Correspondence

Seven letters from John Evans to his children, 1872-1879, written from Cariboo and from Victoria, describing his personal life, mining activities, and activities as MLA. Fragment of one letter written John Evans' son, Taliesin, to his sister, dated San Francisco, 1880, describing his own health, his father's remarriage, and the cause of his father's death. Two letters from Nellie Humphrey Jones (John Evans' daughter) to the Victoria City Council and to the Provincial Archivist containing information on her father and his family and forwarding these letters.

Correspondence

"British Columbia mining adventure": letter-book copies of the letters Evans wrote to H.B. Jackson, who financed the group of Welsh miners Evans brought to British Columbia, to keep him informed of the group's activities, progress, expenses, etc. The first letter is dated April 15, 1863 and describes events from December, 22, 1862; the last letter is dated November 6, 1864.
