Advertising, media coverage and press releases

The series consists of press releases and newspaper clippings of the Bank’s representation in newspapers and published advertisements. The series includes issued press releases and newspaper clippings saved by Bank employees and sent to the marketing department from individuals interested in the Bank’s affairs.

Annual reports

The series consists of collated data and photographs accrued as a result of the production of the Bank’s annual reports. The series includes photographic resources for and published annual reports for all years from 1968 until 1985 inclusive.

Bank history records

The series consists of files on the history of the bank, predominantly relating to its initial formation in 1960s. The series includes records relating to the proceedings of incorporation, opening day activities, and student school reports on the history of the Bank. The series also includes the Bank’s correspondence with the public relating to the first Bank of British Columbia; these letters contain such items as cheques, an account book, and photographs of currency from the first Bank of British Columbia. In addition, there is an audio recording, an interview with W.A.C. Bennett

Branch opening records

The series consists of records created during the coordination of the opening of branches, whether re-locations or new branches, and during efforts to establish the feasibility of extended banking hours. The series includes pre- and post-opening schedules, advertisements for openings and extended hours, and correspondence related to these affairs.

The series consists of photographic materials used in the publication of a company calendar. The series includes photographs for the calendars from 1980 through 1983 inclusive.

Company relations and staff engagement records

The series consists of records created as the marketing department worked with branch managers and employees to develop employee/company relations and employee/customer relations. The series includes internal communications with branch managers, employee engagement and promotion programs, and records relating to branch manager conferences.

Marketing strategy, research, and promotion records

The series consists of records resulting from the selection of advertising agencies and the promotion of bank programs. The series is comprised predominantly of advertising agency proposals and promotional materials for the Bank’s Pioneer Service Plan, MAX Automated Banking Machine, Western Account, Bonanza Account, and Scenic Cheque Programme.

Staff profile records

The series consists of personnel files on bank executives and managers. The series includes photographs of bank executives and managers, which were used in the press and other publications, and occasional biographies and published addresses.
