Prince George Chamber of Commerce.

Founded in 1911, the Fort George Board of Trade changed its name to the Prince George Board of Trade in December 1915. Early in 1961, another name change took place and the board became the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. This unit contains the minutes which record the growth and development of the city as seen through the eyes of local businessmen. Major issues and events affecting Prince George from early settlement to railways to prohibition and onward are covered in the minutes which span the years 1915-1936, 1950 - January 1961, 1968-1980 (gaps exist for 1911-1914, 1937-1949, 1961-1967). The unit includes an index to the minutes compiled by Katherine Plett, Technical Services Librarian at the College of New Caledonia. The index contains names, lists of principal officers of the Board/Chamber and subjects and is further broken down by year and date of the Board/Chamber meeting. Voluem 1 contains the index and minutes 1915 - July 1936. Volume 2: 1956-1961. Volumes 3-10 contain minutes for the years 1968-1980 which were pasted into ledgers (not in strict chronological order). Vol. 3: 1968, Vol. 4: 1969, Vol. 5: 1969-1970, Vol. 6: 1970-1971, Vol. 7: 1971-1974, Vol. 8: 1974-1976, Vol. 9: 1976-1977, Vol. 10: 1977-1980.
