The item consists of one album inscribed “B.W. Pearse, Fernwood, Victoria, British Columbia, 1860.” The album contains a collection of artistic works, some of which are initialed and dated by Pearse. Among Pearse’s original work is a sketch in sepia inscribed “Comox, B.W.P., 1852.” The album includes several English botanical miniatures, pencil drawings likely by G. Copeland (1835 exhibitor, Royal Academy), and one water colour signed “E.T. Coleman” and inscribed on mount “Indian Graves at Yale, Br. Columbia.”
The album also contains 27 b&w albumen prints, all of which include hand-written captions (likely by Pearse) or titles printed on the photograph. The photographs are primarily of Warwick, England, and some other locations in England.
Seven engravings (prints) taken from “The Holy Bible With Explanatory Notes, Practical Observations and Copious Marginal References, by the Rev. Thomas Scott. Vol. 2.” (1845) were kept in the front of the album. These have been placed in a file folder within the same box.
Three prints relating to the Klondike published in The Illustrated London News (September 11, 1897) were stored at the back of the album. These have been removed and placed in a file folder within the same box.
