Provincial Police vouchers and correspondence
The series consists of records created by the Superintendent of Provincial Police between 1917 and 1929. The records relate to the Victoria district and "A" division and contain files relating to various acts including the Sheep Protection Act and the Poll Tax Act from 1917 to 1921; vouchers and correspondence re vouchers from 1917 to 1925; and vouchers and miscellaneous letters from 1928 to 1929.

Provincial Police records relating to the Victoria district
The series consists of records created by the British Columbia Provincial Police between 1877 and 1925. The records relate to the Victoria district and include the following: Police and gaol diary, 1877; Provincial Police record books, Jan. 1894 to Nov. 1898; office diaries, 1911 to 1914 and 1921 to 1924; report book, 1916 to 1925; files relating to informations, warrants and depositions, 1893 to 1909; and deposition case files from 1919 to 1923 and 1925.
The series also includes correspondence files from Otway Wilkie, Senior Police Constable, Victoria, dated 1922-1923. This position is also referred to as the Officer commanding “A” Division. “A” Division of the BC Provincial Police Force included subdivisions for the Victoria and Vancouver regions, but had its headquarters in Victoria. The Senior Constable may have been located in the same office as the Police Superintendent, which was responsible for the entire province. Many records are to or from the Superintendent or include stamps from the Office of the Superintendent. These records include circulars, correspondence, game reports, coroner inquisition records, reports on various crimes. Correspondence may be with other police officials or from public reporting or providing information on crimes.
There is also a scrapbook of newspaper clippings from the Vancouver Daily Province from 1927-1928 created by the Victoria Criminal Identification Department. The clippings relate to a variety of crimes reported in the paper. They are arranged by date and indexed by name of the individuals in the paper. The scrapbook was likely used as a reference for tracking repeat offenders.

Provincial Museum correspondence inward
The series consists of correspondence inward (with responses) to the director, assistant director, curators, and other personnel of the Provincial Museum. The correspondence is with collectors, amateur and professional naturalists, museum officials, and federal and provincial government departments and agencies and was created between 1897 and 1970.
The files include correspondence with the museum's first three directors (called "Curators" prior to 1913): John Fannin (1886-1904), Francis Kermode (1904-1940), and G. Clifford Carl (1940-1969). However, very little of the correspondence generated during Fannin's tenure has survived, while most of the Kermode files date from the post-1918 period.
The series also includes index cards created between 1925 and 1937 which records index details about letters in A-Z, and letters out, A-R.

Victoria Gaol employment registers
This series contains employment registers from the Victoria Gaol, 1861-1914. These volumes contain daily reports showing the prisoner's name, with or without labour, how/where employed and sometimes "remarks". The following Volumes are missing : 1 May 1900 - 16 Sep 1901 and 1 Feb 1903 - 14 Jun 1904. The final volume contains a notes that prisoners were transferred to Saanich Prison Farm on 12 Sep 1914.
Victoria Gaol
This series consists of the records of the Victoria Gaol, 1859-1914. The 107 volumes include lists of prisoners, descriptions of prisoners, sentence books, work records, charge books, employment registers, registers of clothing issued, reports of prisoners' conduct, punishment books, gaolers' reports, duty rosters and daily diaries, ration books, food account books, stores and provisions account books, financial records, doctors' record books, medical order books, receipts and 1875 correspondence from the Superintendent of Police.
Records have been grouped by subject matter, then arranged chronologically when possible. The groupings are as follows: Volumes 1 to 6, Lists of prisoners in Victoria gaol; Volumes 7 to 13, Description lists; Volumes 14 to 17, Sentence books; Volumes 18 to 22, Work records; Volumes 23 to 35, Charge books; Volumes 36 to 40, Prisoners conduct records; Volumes 41 to 107, Gaolers' records.

This series consists of architectural proposals and consultants reports on topics connected with the construction of public buildings, urban development, siting, traffic patterns, and design requirements. Reports have been created for the Department of Public Works by various sources, including Arthur Erikson Architects, The Environmental Analysis Group (TEAG), UBC School of Architecture, BCIT, Vancouver City Planning Department, and other various architects and engineers.

This series consists of 7 volumes of Vancouver Island Supreme Court fee books maintained by the Registrar, 1859-1870. The volumes record fees owing to the Supreme Court. Volume 2 also includes the registrar's office diary.
Although the colonies of Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia were united in 1866, the Supreme Court of each Colony remained as two separate Supreme Courts until they were merged in 1870 as the Supreme Court of British Columbia, based in Victoria.

Records of the Advisor on Forest Resources
The series consists of the records of the Advisor on Forest Resources created between 1954 and 1960. The series includes 18 volumes of transcripts of the Royal Commission on Forestry, projects 1-4, held by the Commissioner and Advisor on Forest Resources, Gordon McGregor Sloan in 1958 and concluded by Commission C.W. Morrow in 1959. The series contains a further 22 boxes of records created by the Advisor including exhibits acquired during the Commission hearings, reports by the Commissioners, bench books, correspondence, subject files and clippings.
In February 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Chilliwack concerning a proposal to establish a public working circle (sustained yield unit) in the Fraser Canyon region. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 1.

In June 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning competitive bidding of tree farm licences. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 3.
In October 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning the tree farm licence of Empire Mills Limited. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 4.
Project 4 was halted in November 1958 due to Sloan's ill health and he died in 1959. On July 27, 1959, Judge C.W. Morrow was appointed Commissioner under the "Public Inquiries Act" to complete the work of project 4. Morrow commenced hearings in September 1959 and produced his report on December 31, 1959.

This series consists of records of the Commission on Victoria Police Commissioners, 1910. Commissioner Peter S. Lampman was appointed March 24, 1910 to inquire into the actions of the Victoria Police commissioners in response to allegations of corruption. The investigation centered on the actions of the Police Commissioners in regard to bawdy houses and gambling establishments in the Chinatown area.
