Journal

The file contains loose ledge pages containing a brief daily journal. Entries appear to be in two different hands and on the fourth page, the page begins with the header "Stuarts Lake Journal" and all entries may be from Stuart Lake post. The entries document events like weather and daily activities. Individuals mentioned include Michel Lacroix, Tomma, and Michel Deschamp. The two last pages contain lists of places (Thomasson River, New Caledonia British Columbia, Stuarts Lake) and the name Charles G. Ogden.

Sketches, R.F.B.

Item consists of one bound sketchbook containing watercolours, sketches, and one photograph. The majority of the works have printed titles. The subject matter consists primarily of coastal and ocean scenes in British Columbia and abroad (primarily Rio de Janeiro).

Sketchbook with sketches done in England

File consists of one sketchbook that belonged to B.W. Pearse. The sketchbook is a hardcover folder, with an expanding file on the left side and a pencil loop along the spine. The folder contains 9 sketches (graphite) by B.W. Pearse of scenes and buildings in England, as well as 1 painting by B.W. Pearse. There are also two blank pages.

This is a temporary file created to maintain a collection of item level photographs of unknown provenance. Each photograph has been assigned a reference code and an HP ("historical photograph") code. The photographs exist in multiple copies across various fonds and the creator has not always been determined. Specifically, all photographs contained here can also be found within MS-3324, which was previously described as "Dally Album 8" (MS-3100.8). The photographs were previously described under MS-3100.8 as item level descriptions.

Some of the items appear to refer to glass plate negatives in the Maynard collection, but may be original Dally photographs.

Alternate copies of the photographs can be found by searching the HP number. The source photograph (negative or print) for the digital copies available here has not been determined in all cases.

Family photograph

File consists of one tintype photograph of E.C. Hart, his sister Jessie and brother Joseph, and their grandmother.

[Printing plate : engraved portrait of B.W. Pearse]

Item consists of one engraved metal printing plate, with a portrait of B.W. Pearse and his signature below. The portrait was published by the S.G. Clark Publishing Company of British Columbia, and engraved by E.G. Williams & Bro. of New York. The original envelope is included in the file.

K. Andrews, Warren

File consists of 55 photographs associated with Warren Andrews (1873-1967?). The majority of the photographs are of the Camborne area.

I. Lardeau album

File consists of one soft-cover (paper) photo album containing photographs of people and views of the Lardeau region. Some photographs have come loose from the album and are kept in an adjacent envelope. The photographs are not identified and many are faded.

Correspondence inward

File consists of five pieces of unrelated and undated correspondence addressed to Colonel E.C. Hart during his time in Salonika.

Photo album : the Granville Canadian Special Hospital, Buxton

File consists of one photo album with a covering page reading "With the compliments of The Granville Canadian Special Hospital, Buxton, Derbyshire." The album is unbound and one photograph per page is mounted to paper. The photograph depicts interior and exterior views of the hospital, staff, patients, treatments, and furniture.

Photographs

File consists of 4 photographs relating to war service and depict Salonika, soldiers on a ship either departing or arriving, and Hart in uniform with his family.

Miscellaneous documents

File contains miscellaneous documents, originally kept with Hart's other war-time documents. The file contains Hart's cheques and receipts, one group photograph with individuals identified (Hart is not in the photograph), and lists.

Ledger : addresses of No. 5 personnel

File consists of one ledger book containing a list of officers, including their rank and home address. E.C. Hart is the first officer listed under rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The ledger also lists nursing sisters. Pages of the Courier newsletter is included at the front of the ledger, and features E.C. Hart.
