Diverse mining records

The series consists of a small group of diverse mining records created between 1864 and 1896 by the Dept. of Mines and its predecessor bodies. It includes declaratory statements (Cariboo district) concerning the partnerships formed, applications for leaves of absence and mining court records from the Omineca district.

William Sterling business records

The series consists of records of Sterling's trading business including: receipts for general merchandise, food hardware, clothing, liquors, soap, etc. bought in San Francisco, Victoria, Yale and Quesnelmouth 1873-1876 and Sterling's licenses to trade and to sell liquor, 1876. Also includes an inventory of goods at the Cohen and Hoffman store in Germansen Creek and a license to operate a saloon for Ezra Evans of Manson Creek, 1883.

William Adam Gordon records

Correspondence, depositions, memoranda of witnesses, notes, etc. relating to the arrest and trial of Gordon who was arrested in Hazelton, by R.E. Loring and charged in connection with the disappearance of his partner, Isaac Jones. Photographs of the accused transferred Visual Records accession 198112-6. Sketch map of trail to Tom Creek and Manson, and sketch map of trail from Quesnelle to Hazelton, transferred to map collection (map registration number 17411A sheets 1 and 2).

This series consists of three volumes of records of the Water Commissioner, Omineca District, relating to water rights. Volume 1 is a record of Water Grants pursuant to the Water Clauses Consolidation Act (1897), 1898-1905, including determinations by the Board of Investigation, 1917. Volume 2 is a record of Water Grant pursuant to the Water Clauses Consolidation Act (1897), 1909-1917, including determinations by the Board of Investigation, 1917. Volume 3 is Water Record Book No. 1, from 24 June 1898, recorded at the Gold Commissioner's office, Omineca District, including correspondence relating to water rights claims, 1915 and 1917.

Frank Swannell papers

The records include: diaries, field books, scrapbooks and subject files containing notes and correspondence covering Swannell's career as a surveyor in Northern British Columbia, his army service in the First World War in Europe and Russia and his later travels in British Columbia, Europe and Asia. The diaries and field books are profusely illustrated with photos.

Journal

Series consists of an account of part of a journey from North Dakota to Atlin [translated from the original Finnish]. With a group of investors from North Dakota who had formed the Alaska Mercantile and Mining Co. in 1897, Tervo set out for the Klondike, travelling to Ashcroft by train and then north via Quesnel and Hazelton. The account ends a few days north of Hazelton.

The series consists of records created by the Sub-Mining Recorder at Fort Grahame between 1909 and 1939. It contains records of claims, applications for certificates of work, powers of attorney, correspondence outward to the Mining Recorder in Smithers and instructions as to the duties of Sub-Mining Recorders. Records may also relate to the Omineca Mining Recorder.
