SUMMARY: "Between Ourselves" was a weekly series of hour-long radio programs that presented Canada to Canadians. It featured aspects of Canadian life in docudramas, plays, music, and interviews, originating from different regions of Canada. The series ran from 1966 to 1979. This episode features two items inspired by Emily Carr. Part 1: Recollections by three women who knew Carr -- Kate Mather, Edythe Hembroff-Schleicher, and Flora Hamilton Burns. Part 2: A performance of Jean Coulthard's composition "The Pines of Emily Carr" for narrator (mezzo soprano) and small chamber ensemble.

Guest book of visitors to an exhibition "The World of Emily Carr" from the Newcombe Collection of the Provincial Archives of British Columbia that was held in the Vancouver Hudson's Bay Company store during August 1962

The file consists of photocopies of two letters written by Nancy Martin of Los Gatos, California in 1989, to Paula Blanchard, author of "The life of Emily Carr", Vancouver, B.C. 1987. In them, Martin explains the relationship of Emily Carr to the Hayes family. Nancy Martin is the great granddaughter of Elizabeth Hayes Martin, referred to as "Auntie" by Emily Carr in "The book of Small".

The file contains two letters written by Emily Carr to Leonard Fordham Solly, a former student. Carr discusses her health, thanks Solly for eggs he has sent and discusses the possibility of buying laying hens from him.

The item is a single postcard, not dated but believed to be 1912 because of the information written on it. It is addressed to Mrs. Wilson, Cadboro Bay Rd, City, from Alice Carr. The image on the card is titled "Ocean Docks, Victoria, B.C." The text on the card reads: "Dear Mrs Wilson, We are inviting a few friends to see Millie's summer sketches on Thursday between 4 & 6 o'clock & will be pleased to see you if you can come. Sincerely, Alice Carr." Millie refers to the author's sister, artist Emily Carr. The date of 1912 is probable because this might reference Emily Carr 's first trip to Haida Gwaii and the Skeena River which was that summer and on which she created a large body of art works.

There is a memorial service program from 1980 for Richard Nicholles (Emily Carr's nephew). There is also a book titled Emily Carr: Her Paintings and Sketches that is signed "To Alice with love from Ira", dated 1945. The series also includes a souvenir program titled Canadian Premiere of Klee Wyck: The Emily Carr Film dated 1947, and assorted brochures.
