Photograph depicts a group of soldiers from the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles. The insignia on their jacket sleeves (two flags) identifies them as Signallers, a specialized group of soldiers responsible for military communications. Here, they pose with signal flags (unfurled), two Heliographs, instruments used to send messages in Morse Code using reflected light.
