Diary of weather, April 1897 - March 1898, and daily events March 13, 1897 - March 31, 1898, kept by Hobson at the Cariboo Hydraulic Mine, including day to day hydraulic mining events, water supply, victualling, housing, accidents, and movement of personnel. One page, dated 1914, is devoted to a very brief series of diary entries on a trip from Vancouver to Bullion and a note on insurance of amalgam en route from the mine to a refinery.

The records consist of personal correspondence, notes, reminiscences by Edwin DeBeck and his relatives; essays on Indians of the British Columbia coast.
