Each declaration is related to one individual. Declarations would have been submitted as part of the process of applying to pre-empt land in the Sumas area.

This series consists of records of the New Westminster Goal, including prisoner description books, monthly lists of prisoners, and prisoners' effects books, 1875-1917.

Description books are a record and description list of all prisoners received into New Westminster Gaol, showing date, name, occupation, age, height, hair, eyes, complexion, religion, nationality, proportions, weight, peculiar marks, read and write, married or single, temperate or intemperate, offence, sentence number of convictions and remarks.

Return of Prisoners confined in New Westminster Gaol are lists arranged by month showing prisoner number and name, offence or charge, date of trial, when received in gaol, where and by whom tried, sentence, religion, nationality, whether can read or write, date of discharge, conduct, occupation in gaol, and remarks.

Prisoners' effects books show date, name, property, officer, remarks, charge and sentence.

Records are arranged chronologically by type of record.

Carmanah Lighthouse records

This series consists of a variety of records related to the administration of the Carmanah Lighthouse from 1891-1965. The series includes 16 volumes of Lightkeeper's diaries; 12 volumes of Lightkeeper's journals; 9 volumes of Diaries of the engineer; 26 volumes of Engine room diaries; 6 volumes of Engine room detailed reports; 4 volumes of Fog signal operating reports; 9 volumes of Quarterly returns of stores; a Notebook containing weather statistics; and a published work on signals by the Great Britain Board of Trade "The international code of signals for the use of all nations" published in London by Spottiswoode and Company Ltd., 1911. Records are arranged chronologically by type of record.

The following government ministries were responsible for the Lighthouse Service during the period that the records were created: Dept. of Marine and Fisheries (1891-1930), Dept. of Marine (1930-1936) and Dept. of Transport (1936-1965).

Saanich Prison Farm records

This series consists of records documenting the admission and discharge of prisoners, their daily activities and medical needs; account books for the running of the gaol; time books for the guards and gaolers; and a letterpress book of correspondence outward from the warden, J. Munro. Volumes 1-5 are statements showing the Employment of Prisoners in Saanich Prison Farm. This is a daily record which shows the date, number and name of prisoner, all are male, all do hard labour, most are under sentence and a few are under capital sentence.

Public hearing re: application for land use contract, Gabriola Wildwood Estates Ltd.

The file consists of eight audio reels which contain a recording of a 1972 public hearing conducted by the Minister of Municipal Affairs (Hon. Dan Campbell), regarding an application for a land use contract for the proposed Wildwood Estates on Gabriola Island. The application was made by Gabriola Wildwood Estates Ltd. and was recorded on June 24 and July 8, 21 and 22, 1972.

Minutes of the Provincial Council from 1985 to 2002 were donated in 2023.
