This series consists of records related to Bullion Mine received by Department of Mines staff from 1894-1924. Records relate to mining leases, land tenure or use disputes, the Cariboo Gold Mining Company and the Cariboo Hydraulic Mining Company, South Fork Hydraulic Mining Company, and the associated Hopp versus Ward court case. Records include correspondence, indentures, copies of legislation, court documents including exhibits, photos, maps and technical drawings of the mine.

The series also includes records related to 1898 mining report, including feedback and comments from miners.

The series consists of applications for registration of a motor and for a licence in respect thereof, created by the Provincial Police Force from 1916 to 1920. Applications give the make, style, no. of cylinders, engine no., etc., of vehicle; owner's name and address of place vehicle kept. Include application nos. 8943-8950, 8992-8993; 8994-9002; 9003, 9005-9012; 9013-9015, 9026-9030.

The series consists of applications for position as constable, created by the Provincial Police Force from 1920 to 1923. The forms list the name of applicant, nationality, occupation, religion, whether temperate or abstainer, age, family, address, war service, etc.

The series consists of civil orders created in the Supreme Court in Golden between 1960 and 1991. Orders are a formal expression of the court’s will, and orders in this series cover a variety of issues, including adoption, probate and divorce.

The series is arranged by volume, and then by folio according to filing date. Some folios may not be clearly labeled, may not be filed chronologically or may have duplicated folio numbers. Each folio is labeled with a coded registry number. Some additional documents may be interfiled with numbered folios, such as affidavits. There is only one partial index for volume 4 included.

The dates listed in the file list are derived from the date on which the order was filed. Although the filing date for the majority of the records corresponds closely to when the order was issued, this is not always the case, and there are instances in which orders were filed months after being issued.

Originally the files were arranged in Shannon files based on volume number. For space and preservation reasons, the records have been placed in acid-free folders. Each volume was split into multiple folders, which are linked by volume number.

Series consists of volume 2 of Ashcroft Supreme Court’s cause books. The volume covers cases 5/1917 to 3/1934 and includes information on divorces, probates and estate administration, adoption orders, and other civil cases. The volume also includes an alphabetical index.

The series consists of records created by the Child Welfare Division between 1940 and 1947. The records include case files, arranged alphabetically by surname of the individual case, of the Children's Overseas Reception Board, under the direction of the Superintendent of Child Welfare. The series consists of original civil orders, judgements, and reasons for judgement created between 1978 and 2001 by the Fernie Supreme Court and County Court registry. Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court, judgements are the final orders issued in a case, and reasons for judgement provide the court's rationale. The records relate to a variety of civil matters including divorces, bankruptcies, and some adoptions. In the later years of this series, adoptions were removed and filed separately.

From 1978 to August 1999, the records are arranged by volume and folio number as assigned by the court registry. Beginning September 1999, they are arranged chronologically. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.

The series consists of orders from the Supreme Court in Fernie. The orders date from 1983 to 2002 and the series is largely composed of divorce orders. There is one folder of adoption orders and one of general court orders, which also includes orders related to probates and estates. Divorce orders were originally arranged by volume and folio number, but this system appears to have changed in 1999 and the records were subsequently arranged by filing date. Researchers should note that there is sometimes a gap between the date the order is issued and the date it is filed. Other orders appear to be arranged by filing date.

The series consists of records created by the Dept. of Education in 1939. It includes correspondence, inward and outward, of all branches and formed the department's Central Registry. Records include correspondence re text books, curricula, appointments, and special education programs. School inspectors' reports and files re individual rural schools also included. The series also includes eight maps and plans and one photograph of the gymnasium of Brooks School at Powell River under construction.

This series consists of 33 volumes of register of Schools, school trustees and teachers. Records include registers showing the location of rural and assisted schools (1 vol.), names of trustees of rural and assisted school districts, 1917-1946 (29 vols.) and names of teachers in provincial public schools, 1918-1921 (3 vols.).

Volume 1 is a register of rural and assisted schools, ca 1918-1946. The schools are listed alphabetically and the location of each school is described. For example: "JACKSON BAY - a post office on Lewis Channel - Topaz Harbour route of Union Steamship Company from Vancouver;"

Volumes 2-30 are registers showing the names of school trustees of rural and assisted schools. The registers are arranged by year, beginning in 1917/1918 (vol. 2) through 1945/1946 (vol.30). Each register is organized alphabetically by name of school.

Volumes 31-33 are entitled "Teachers' Index Books." These registers are arranged alphabetically by name of teacher. The registers also show where each teacher was posted and the teacher's residence or postal address.

The Teachers' Indexes for 1918-1920 (vols. 31 and 32) list teachers in all categories of public schools City, Rural Municipality, Rural and Assisted. The Index volume for 1920-1921, however, only shows teachers who taught in Graded City Schools and in Rural Municipality Schools; teachers at small country schools (i.e. rural and assisted schools) are not listed in Vol. 33.
