Series consists of a card file system created by the Water Rights Branch ca. 1928-1959. The card files index photographs taken or collected by the branch during this period, which relate to activity regarding water issues in British Columbia. The series consists of two alphabetical sorts of card files; the first is arranged alphabetically by area. Information on each card lists the photographs indexed under that area, with the photo file number, title or description of the photograph and sometimes the date. Occasionally a negative or glass plate negative number is listed as well. The second sort is arranged alphabetically by subject. The information on each card lists the photographs indexed under that subject, with the photo file number, title or description of the photograph and sometimes the date. There are occasional references to negative or folio numbers. There is also a subset of numbers, L01 to L16, filed after the subject snow surveys which include 23 black and white photographs interfiled with the index cards. The photographic records indexed by this card file system consist of both prints and negatives.

The fonds consists of a letterbook containing copies of correspondence relating to James Bland's inquiries about his family background. The fonds also includes two certificates issued to James William Bland to commemorate his service with the Victoria Hook and Ladder Co.

The collection consists of single items, reports, photocopies, photographs and other small collections donated and loaned to the BC Archives which document all aspects of the political, economic, social and cultural history of the province. There are private records produced by individuals, businesses and organizations and acquired by the Archives over many years from all areas of the Province and varying widely in subject matter. They consist of account books and journals, letters and diaries of gold seekers, pioneers, missionaries, and school teachers, literary manuscripts, photographs, the papers of natural historians and students and the personal and family papers of notable settlers and residents of the province.
There are also some provincial and federal government records which either came to the Archives as single items or files or were removed from other series.

Fonds consists of administrative and operating records of British Columbia Forest Products Limited in British Columbia between 1946 and 1986, pertaining particularly to plywood production, 1952-1986. Incorporated are records of predecessor companies including Industrial Timber Mills of Cowichan Lake and Douglas Plywood of Vancouver. The fonds illustrates the operating data and composition of working documentation for single plant operations that formed part of a multi-plant company. The fonds is comprised of the records of two of the corporate divisions involved in plywood production: Victoria Plywood and Sawmill and Delta Plywood. Topical files, financial statements, working files, equipment documentation, ledgers and registers, technical drawings and cartographic material predominate. Content pertains to all aspects of division and plant operations including, but not limited to, products, finances, suppliers, clients, markets, partners, facilities, equipment, supplies and human resources. Records from the Victoria Plywood and Sawmill division pertain to operations at Victoria, BC. They were created between 1942 and 1988 and are in three series: 1. Manager's Office files, ca.1950 to 1988, ca. 3.5 metres; 2. Accountant's Office files, 1942 to 1987, ca. 4 metres, and; 3. Cowichan District plans and drawings, ca.1950 to ca.1975, ca. 120 items. The Cowichan Division operated an affiliated veneer plant and sawmill at Youbou on Cowichan Lake, BC. Records from the Delta Plywood division consist of operating files for the plant at New Westminster, BC and pertain to administration and finance. Series are: 1. Administration,1970-1985, ca. 1.5 metres; 2. Accountant's Office, 1972-1985, ca. 3 metres and 3. Douglas plywood project financial files. Alphabetical-chronological filing arrangements have been retained and reconstructed. The fonds also contains a scrapbook of construction photographs.

Fonds consists of broad-ranging records pertaining to the management and operations of the Western Plywood Company Limited and the Weldwood-Westply Limited group of regional and national companies, subsidiaries, divisions and branches in Canada and the United States. Records in this fonds are from the British Columbia Head Office of Weldwood-Westply and include material to do with management and operations of various plants, particularly the Kent Avenue plywood plant in Vancouver, where the head office was located, and the Cariboo Plywood plant in Quesnel. The fonds includes records of the following companies, subsidiaries, divisions and branches: Alwest Wholesale, Canadian Collieries Resources Limited, Cariboo Pulp and Plywood (Quesnel), Empire Lumber Company, Hay & Company Limited and Hubbell Lumber Company (both Ontario), Flavelle Cedar Limited, J.R. This series contains miscellaneous memoranda from the Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works relating to New Westminster streets and bridges, lands pre-empted, sold and leased, bills for drafting supplies, lists of tools at Douglas, B.C., and list of books ordered by the Chief Commissioner.

A 1887 probate file for an Andrew Carlson has also been placed in this series. It was found in a box of miscellaneous court records in December 2021, and as there was no other appropriate series to interfile it with, it has been placed in container GR3157-0001.

The series consists of letters of administration (Form G), created by the Nicola County Court from 1910 to 1913 in order to deal with probate/estate matters.

This series contains translations of technical reports relating to reforestation, forest fires, silviculture, yield, growth, soil, and other scientific studies of forest biology.

This series contains public relations and educational reference material consisting of texts for public lectures, radio broadcasts and materials relating to ranger training prior to the establishment of the Forest Ranger School at Green Timbers. Much of the material was originally produced for the annual District Foresters Meetings.

The fonds consists of photographs of the Waddell-Hendrick Wooden Suspension Bridge built across the Fraser River near the Gang Ranch in 1911-1912.

The series consists of an index of Free Miners Certificates, organized alphabetically by year, created by the Osoyoos Mining Recorder from 1898 to 1906.

This series consists of three volumes of miscellaneous land account books. Volume 1, Land Revenue, receipts paid into the Treasury, 26 December 1864 to 30 December 1865. Volume 2, Cash Book, receipts and payments, 8 January 1866 to 2 July 1868. Volume 3, Ledger Book, expenditures for roads, furniture, buildings and government offices generally, 1876-1879. Index in front of vol. 3.

This series contains a record book relating to mineral claims (1 volume). This register was maintained by the Mining Recorder, but contains grants and records approved by the Gold Commissioner, Nelson, B.C. Included are a record of affidavits of mineral claims, water grants for mining purposes, mineral claim extensions, relocation of mineral claims, and a permission to remove stakes from a mineral claim.

Civil case material.

The series consists of a duplicate cash book of payments received by Alexander Watson, treasurer, for mining revenue from Sooke Mines, Vancouver Island, commencing December 1864 (1864-1865).

The journal is organized into debtor and creditor cash pages (abbreviated Dr. and Cr) that are recorded on the left-hand and right-hand sides respectively: “Dr” cash pages include date, receipt number, from whom, receipt description, and amount; “Cr” cash pages include date, summary of payment by type, and amount.

Mining revenue resulted from payments for licences, records of mining claims and transfers, percentage on purchase money, and records of water privileges. Payments correspond to the mining regulations and fees for Sooke District issued by the Acting Colonial Secretary Henry Wakeford on July 29, 1864 (published in The Daily British Colonist).

The script throughout the volume varies.

Consists of photographics negatives created by the Ocean Falls Company. Pacific Mills Limited and Crown Zellerbach Canada Limited, depicting the pulp mill, equipment, and community activities. Some images are included of people and special events at Ocean Falls, B.C. The majority of negatives are arranged in date order.

Series consists of photographs created by the Department of Public Works to show various engineering projects, 1912-1935. The photographs are arranged in albums and each one documents separate projects including bridge construction and road works.

The fonds consists of correspondence, clippings, articles and photographs relating to big game hunting in the Cassiar District, principally created by George and Georgiana Ball. Fonds also includes home movies of Ball family activities and oral history interviews with family and neighbours.

The series consists of civil case files from the Fernie Supreme Court from 1905 to 1954, including appeals. The files include County Court and Jury lists from 1930, 1945 and 1946. Civil case files may contain the notice of claim or notice of petition, writs and affidavits, orders and a final judgment.

Files of the Hospital Consultation Division, relating to the liaison and supervision of private hospitals in the province. Includes correspondence and memoranda, reports of inspections of the hospitals and recommendations made.

These files document the liaison and supervision activities of the Hospital Consultation and Inspection Division in dealing with private hospitals throughout the province. They consist of originals and copies of general correspondence and memoranda, complaints about the level of care and service and reports of the resulting investigations, regular review reports and recommendations, copies of incident reports relating to patients, dietetics reports and meal surveys, visit notes, other general reports, and statistics. These records are arranged alphabetically by institution.
