The fonds consists of records generated by Lew M. Parry between about 1930 and 1987 in the course of his activities as a film maker based in Vancouver, including records generated by the companies Trans-Canada Films Ltd., Lew Parry Film Productions and Parry Films Ltd. The fonds also includes records generated by Lew Parry through his activities as art director and set designer for the Vancouver Little Theatre Association in Vancouver from about 1933 until about 1947. Also included are a few personal records such as photographs of Parry's home, family and friends. The fonds consists of Parry's films and library footage, comprising industrial films of bridge, power plant and dam construction, and of the mining, logging and fishing industries, as well as documentaries, travelogues, promotional films, newsreels, educational and training films, dramatic short films, docudramas, theatrical trailers and television programs and commercials. The fonds also includes photographs of Parry's activities making promotional films, and making industrial films of the mining industry and of bridge, dam and power plant construction projects. There are also photographs of the filming of the pilot television program North of 53 and of The Littlest Hobo program; of film studios, film sets, and recording studios; photographs of actors (including actors from Paramount Studios) and a few personal photographs of Parry's home, family and friends. In addition the fonds includes a scrapbook containing Vancouver Little Theatre Association programs (1933-1947), correspondence, notes, newspaper clippings, black and white photographs, including some of the Vancouver Diamond Jubilee parade, graphite sketches and colour drawings of set designs, art sketches (including possibly a storyboard for a “screen ad” for Roger's Sugar), invitations and an invoice. The fonds also includes four award certificates (1957, 1986-1987).

The fonds consists of photographic material, correspondence, fact sheets, advertising material, reports, minutes, maps, architectural drawings, and film reels created and acquired by Okanagan Helicopters Ltd, its predecessor Okanagan Air Services Ltd., and its successor, Canadian Helicopters. The fonds consists of executive council records and material relating to the administration of the company, as well as records pertaining to both domestic and international operations. The records, which were created between 1945 and 1997, chart the company’s development and activities, including relationships with aircraft manufacturering companies, innovations in aerial fire-fighting equipment, and early involvement with the heli-skiing and heli-logging industries.

A portion of the records originated with other companies and were transferred to Okanagan Helicopters as a result of mergers and acquisitions. These companies include : Ambank Aircraft Limitée; Aerial Engineering Limited; Associated Helicopters Company Limited; Canadian Helicopters Limited; Creighton Helicopters Ltd.; Dominion Pegasus Helicopters Ltd.; Haida Helicopters Ltd. ; Heli-Aero Logging; Lac St Jean Aviation Limitée; Lecky Paper Ltd.; Sept-Iles Helicopter Services; and Smith, Davidson & Wright.

The fonds is arranged into 17 series created by the archivist : Accidents and crashes; associated companies’ records; awards and certificates; director and shareholder records; equipment; hangar and base records; leases and agreements; manuscripts and research material; news clippings and history files; newsletters; operation records – BC; operation records – extra-provincial; personnel records; proof sheets and photograph collections; promotional material; reports; and Sikorsky Aircraft records. The archivist has maintained the creator's file titles.

Of the films, those which did not directly relate to the operations and activities of Okanagan Helicopters Ltd have been removed from the fonds. A list of these items is available.

The list of guests who appeared on the show is a virtual "who's who" from a decade in Canadian public life. Politicians, labour leaders, prominent business people, authors, academics and entertainers were among those interviewed by Jack Webster, a veteran journalist with a reputation for being both tough and fair. The collection consists of oral history interviews with Cumberland residents pertaining to coal mining and community life in Cumberland and area.
The collection contains two sets of audio recordings. The first set, T4260:0001-0023, are audio reel recordings entitled "Cumberland History Project" and are a collection of oral history interviews recorded by students of Cumberland Intermediate School in 1974 and 1975. The focus of the interviews is early Cumberland and the local coal mining industry. The second set, T4260:0024-0026 are three cassette tapes recorded from 1979 to 1985 by Cumberland Museum curator, Dale Reeves, and researchers Sandra Clarke and Dale Lovick. These tapes are also oral history interviews about the Cumberland area and the coal mining industry.
