Pioneers of Highland Valley

Industrial film. "Records the story of Bethlehem's early struggle for development of low-grade copper deposits in the Highland Valley of British Columbia. The film follows the company's operations from discovery of the new ore body, [and] shows stages of drilling, mining and milling, and shipment of copper concentrates. Animated scenes includes creation of the Earth and formation of porphyry copper deposits in the Highland Valley."

The item consists of an industrial film made in 1968. It depicts mining activity in BC's Highland Valley by the Alwin Mining Company. Includes every step, from the planning and construction phase to domestic life of the miners. The item also includes a separate magnetic sound track and titles.

Robert M. Taylor interview

The item is an audio recording of an interview with Robert Taylor. He spent most of his life in Merritt, and in 1976 he compiled a history of the Nicola United Church ("Old Murray Church") for its 100th anniversary. He discusses at length the history of Merritt as a developing town, as well as the important people involved. Also included is his personal history as a teacher and lay minister in the Nicola Valley.
