This series consists of a Cowichan Land District land register for various lots on Vancouver Island and other islands, including: Galiano Island, Mayne Island and Pender Island. The entries are arranged numerically by lots within local areas, i.e. individual islands. Records date from 1891 onwards and the volume was superseded in 1929 (i.e. no further entries were made after 1929).

It contains copies of correspondence outward from the Customs Houses in Victoria and New Westminster. There is an index to the volume.

This series contains published forest management manuals, guides, tables, and studies from the Duncan Forest District. Records include lookout man's diaries, 1972-1974, files concerning the closure of Mt. Prevost and Mt. Hooker lookouts, British Columbia Forest Products, Maquinna T.F.L. no. 22 and annual reports, 1969-1972.

This series contains Duty Officer's log of radio messages received during the fire season. The majority of the messages refer to the Vancouver Forest District, but there are a significant number which concern other Districts.

This series consists of one volume recording land use and alienation in the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway belt (E&N Railway) from 1886-1907. This area of land was transferred to the Railway from the Canadian government. After the completion of the railway in 1886 some land was conveyed or sold off to settlers. The volume documents patents issued by the Dominion government, preemption conveyances issued by the E&N Railway Co., conveyances of land not pre-empted. Some records also relate to the conveyance of mineral or subsurface rights.

The records related to land in the entire railway belt which covered most of south eastern Vancouver Island, including the following land districts: Alberni, Cedar, Chemainus, Comiaken, Comox, Cranberry, Cowichan, Ladysmith, Mountain, Nanoose, Newcastle, Oyster, Quamichan, Shawnigan, Somenos, Wellington and others.

The creator of this volume is unclear, but estimated to be the Department of Lands and Works.

Estates in bankruptcy, 1861-1866. Prepared in March, 1866, as "A return of Estates in Bankruptcy as required for the Legislative Assembly by Resolution dated Nov. 30, 1866". This volume is indexed and gives the names of estates, dates, and details regarding proceedings involving the estates, 1 vol.

This series consists of experimental forest sample plot studies created by the research division of the Forest Branch from 1924-1938. The records track the growth, inventory, availability and volume of timber in a particular area referred to as a sample plot. This includes tracking the ratio of height and width of a tree relative to its age to estimate growth rates in various types of ecosystems. The records contain descriptive information of the plot’s soil, topography, ground cover, previous logging, location and vegetation.

One study from 1924-1930 referred to as project number 11 or ME 11 which relates to Douglas fir. The other study conducted around 1938 relates to red alder trees. Plots were located around Vancouver Island, the lower mainland, the Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast and other areas of the south coast. Records include statistics, tables, graphs and field notes.

This series consists of one land register for the Goldstream Land District and Highland Land District on Vancouver Island. Records cover Section XXIII, Rows 1-26, and R I W Section I to R III W, Section 26, (Goldstream), and R IV W, Sections 1-23, and Sections 1-94, in two sub volumes of the Highland (V.I.). The series consists of records of the Lake Cowichan Ranger District of the Ministry of Forests, 1928-1980. It includes correspondence files, cutting permits, and inspection reports relating to tree farm licences, timber leases, and timber marks. It also includes records and a collection of pamphlets and reports relating to forest pathology, silviculture, and reforestation.

This series consists of records related to the construction and maintenance of the Leech River ditch, flume and dam, also known as the Leach ditch from 1866-1867. The majority of the records are correspondence to and from BW Pearse, Acting Surveyor General for the Colony of Vancouver Island. Other records include contracts, reports, and financial records.

This series contains letterbook copies of despatches from Governor Douglas to the Senior Naval Officer of Esquimalt during the period 6 July 1863 to 15 February 1864. Most of the correspondence herewith concerns measures taken against possible attacks from indigenous populations on Vancouver Island.

The series includes files of PLC pioneers Helen Gordon Stewart, H.N. Lidster, and C.K. Morison, plus records of PLC members at Provincial Library and Archives. This series contains a Mining Records Register Book. This volume is a register of various land grants, mineral claims, mining records, and water rights. Included are a record book of all claims and water privileges recorded in the Leech and Sooke River districts commenced December 1864 (1864-1878), and a register of all mining records and mineral claims recorded at Victoria, B.C., by the Chief Gold Commissioner, 1873-1911. Areas covered include the Queen Charlotte Islands, Cassiar district, and portions of Vancouver Island and the adjacent coast of British Columbia. Also included in this volume are the following items relating to the Royal Engineers in British Columbia: (1) List of men of Royal Engineers who purchased their discharge in British Columbia or Vancouver Island on the return of the North American Boundary Commission to England, 26 Sept. 1863. (2) Schedule of Crown Grants issued to Royal Engineers who served in the Colony of British Columbia under Colonel Moody.

This series consists of Vancouver Forest District operational records, 1912-1979. The series has been arranged into 11 sub-series: timber sale sketches; special use permit sketches; park use permit letter and sketches for Mount Seymour; scaling and royalty records including timber leases, timer licenses, fee ledgers, records of accounts, crown grants, and other material; statistical graphs; logging inspection legers for various ranger districts; pole and piling return from Anton Pole and Lumber Co.; payroll accounts of Fraser River Repair Station; a variety of disbursement ledgers; scaling and royalty deposit accounts; and general accounts under section 113 of the Forest Act.

Timber sale sketches contain X and A files, in three colour spirit duplication. These show tenure boundaries, physical features, some contour lines and cultural features such as roads and railways and are in file number order. Special use permit and park use permit sketches are similar to the timber sale sketches.

This series consists of copies of two documents. The first is a holograph draft and typescript of paper by Alan J. Campbell, B.C.L.S., entitled "Photo-topographical control for vertical aerial photographs as used by British Columbia topographical surveys." The second is a copy of letter, 1932, from Campbell to the Surveyor General concerning photo-topographical surveys on Vancouver island [published in Sessional Papers, 1932, vol. 2, pp. 26-27].

This series consists of forest development plans created from 1985-2002 by the Port McNeill Forest District, a division of the Vancouver Forest Region. The majority of the records relate to Tree Farm Licences (TFL).

TFLs are a type of timber tenure which grants a virtually exclusive right to harvest timber and manage forests in a specified area. They are issued for a term of 25 years, but can be replaced every 5-10 years. The records relate to TFL 6, TFL 25, TFL 37, TFL 39, TFL 43 and TFL 47. Over the years, TFL boundaries and rights holders may have changed. TFL holders are required to submit a management plan every five years to the Chief Forester (RSBC 1996, c. 157, s. 35, and BC Reg. 23/2013).

These records include draft and final management or development plans; revisions or amendments to existing plans; correspondence between the ministry and licence holders, as well as correspondence with ministry staff; records related to public review of the development plans; consultation and correspondence with impacted First Nations; reasons for why a plan or amendment was or was not approved; advertisements in newspapers and the Gazette; maps and map overlays; reports; and charts.

The series also includes development plans for the following other types of timber tenures: replaceable forest licences, replaceable timber sale licences, and woodlot licences.

This series consists of various operational records created from 1986-1994 by the Port McNeill Forest District, a division of the Vancouver Forest Region.

The series currently consists of fish and forestry guidelines created for tree farm licences (TFLs) and other forest tenures. Guidelines are provided for major licensees and smaller scale companies operating as part of the Small business forest enterprise program (SBFEP). The records relate to the guidelines followed by the Ministry of Forests concerning the harvesting of timber and the resulting affects on fish habitat. The records include maps, photos, guideline assessment action plans, correspondence, reports, and audits related to compliance or completed work.
