Administrative files

The administrative files originate from the Heritage Conservation Branch and predecessor agencies of the Ministry of Recreation and Conservation and Ministry of Provincial Secretary. These records document policies, planning and management of general heritage resources and some specific sites. Files consist of correspondence, memos, agreements, inter-government programs, reports, inventories, plans and various published materials. Several sets of records pertain to the advisory boards: Historic Sites Advisory Board (1972-1977), Archaeological Sites Advisory Board (1960-1977) and Heritage Advisory Board (1977 - 1983) as well as some records regarding the B.C. Heritage Trust (1977-). Included in these records are minutes of meetings of the Historic Sites Advisory Board not available elsewhere.

The sub-series consists of the administrative files of the British Columbia Institute for Economic Policy Analysis, 1973 to 1976. The files include annual report, minutes, correspondence, staff and personnel files and other records relating to the running of the institute.

Sub-series consists of correspondence and other records created by the Department of Anthropology at the Provincial Museum of British Columbia and it's predecessor. The records document the operations of the department including artifact collecting, ethnology and linguistic research, special projects, and publications. Correspondents include Wilson Duff, Francis Kermode, Ian MacTaggart Cowan, W.A. Newcombe, Clifford Carl, A.E. Pickford, Betty C. Newton, Michael Kew, Donald Abbott, Diane MacEachern, Peter Macnair, John H. Smyly, and more.

A.E. McPhillips correspondence re British Columbia Market Company and Western Canadian Ranching Company

Series consists of correspondence between Cuyler A. Holland, WCRC Director in British Columbia, and A.E. McPhillips, barrister and solicitor, regarding the sale of the goods and chattels of the British Columbia Market Company to E.E. Welch and Edward V. Johnson and the assignment of its leases; and various matters concerning the WCRC, \expndtw5 including mortgages, water rights and quarantine of cattle.\expndtw0

Alaska trips

Sub-series consists of colonial administration field photographs taken by Richard Maynard during his Department of Indian Affairs tours of inspection to Alaska, including Pribiliof Island, in 1879, 1882, 1887, and 1892.

The sub-series consists of glass plate photographic negatives created by a topographical surveying party headed by A.J. Campbell, B.C.L.S. in 1938, working on behalf of the Topographic Division of the Department of Lands. The sub-series may include photographs of and/or taken from the following locations: Nitinat Lakes, Logan Peak, Pelham Mountains, Hobiton Lake. The items are arranged based on the creator's numbering of the plates (plate number - original plate box number).

The sub-series consists of glass plate photographic negatives created by a topographical surveying party headed by R.D. McCaw, B.C.L.S. in 1940, working on behalf of the Topographic Division of the Department of Lands. The sub-series may include photographs of and/or taken from the following locations: Sproat Lake, Port Alberni, Klitsa Range, Nahmint Lake, Henderson Lake, Uchucklesit Inlet. The items are arranged based on the creator's numbering of the plates (plate number - original plate box number).

Stewart, B.C.L.S. in 1944, working o n behalf of the Topographic Division of the Department of Lands. This survey is not mentioned in the Department's annual report, however, Stewart also worked in this area in 1942 and 1943.
