This series consists of registers used to record land assessment values from 1900-1912. All records are likely related to the Kootenay, Similkameen and Okanagan areas, primarily around Osoyoos to Trail. The registers were likely created by the local Government Agent or Assessor for the provincial Surveyor of Taxes as part of the creation of property tax assessment rolls. The registers list the property description, owner, value. Some volumes may also describe the property’s assets, such as buildings, cultivated land, orchards, available water, available timber land, roads, distance to schools or post offices.

Calendar from the Corporation of the City of Grand Forks showing date and hour, name, age, place of birth, religion, trade, literacy, use of liquor, charge, office charging, name of officer charging, plea, name of presiding magistrate and details of the sentence (Duration, fine, costs). There are no entries for 1921.

Records relating to the Greenwood Electoral District: includes annotated voters lists and applications for registration (1903-1912; 1920-1945) from Anaconda, Beaverdell, Boundary Falls, Bridesville, Brown Creek, Carmi, Cascade, Christian Valley, Deadwood, Eholt, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway, Mother Lode Mine, Riverside and Rock Creek. These forms show occupation and place of residence and were sworn before various officials: mining recorder, police magistrate, postmaster, notary public, alderman, stipendiary magistrate, MLA, etc. There is supporting documentation, notes, some correspondence and requests to be removed from the voter's list.

This series consists of records of the Assistant Commissioner of Lands, Similkameen Division, Yale District, 1905-1920. Records include two volumes of declarations for Certificates of Improvement, nos. 1-182 and 183-561. The declarations give a description of improvements made on preempted lands. Some certificates are from Osoyoos Division, Yale District. There is an index at the back of each volume. Some records may relate to Vernon and Fairview as well.

Item consists of one bound atlas measuring 43 x 57 cm. It contains one index map and 35 location maps of the lands of the former "Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood" in the Kootenay and Similkameen Land Districts. There are land utilization maps based on 1951 provincial government "vertical air photos" and coloured soil classification maps for the following communities: Champion Creek, Oteshenie, Brilliant, Raspberry, Glade, Shoreacres, Pass Creek, Krestova, Koch Siding, Lebahdo, Winlaw, Claybrick, Perry Siding, Grand Forks (north and south), Gilpin, and Caesar. The atlas accompanies "Doukhobor lands. A report on a study of the condition and value of the Doukhobor lands, 1952" by N.T. Drewry, Assistant Director, Land Utilization Research and Survey.

Notebook containing draft agreement for extending terms of payment for the Golden Sovereign Group of copper claims, situated near Aspen Grove, copies of telegrams sent by McConnell, and notes of assay records together with estimated production rates and costs for various mines.

Series consists of private papers and business correspondence, agreements, etc. relating to mining companies promoted by A.K. Shives and his associates. Includes material relating to Empress Gold Mines, Gold Valley (properties in Similkameen District), Moose Dome area (Alberta) and others. Also includes some early reconnaissance and timber cruising reports for areas in the North Cariboo and Chilcotin and a letter from Arnold K. Shives to General Victor Odlum regarding Goldbridge Placer Leaser #564, Oct. 7, 1939.

This series consists of a records book from the Greenwood County Court. The book has been used for the following purposes: minute book, Jan 1909 - Mar 1914; jury lists; account book, 1900; and dates of County Court sittings at Greenwood and Grand Forks. The volume also includes pages used as a ledger and a list of tools and supplies stored at Midway. The minute book section also includes some Supreme Court cases.

Minute book from Supreme and County Courts at Greenwood.

This series consists of a Similkameen Division of Yale Land District subdivision lot register for lots 1-4 of District Lot 2708. Earliest entries from 1312 and the volume was cancelled in 1928. The records are arranged numerically and record the alienation of land from the Crown (by purchase, pre-emption, lease, etc.). Information may include name of the purchaser, dates and numbers of certificates issued, dates and amounts of payments, and reference numbers to correspondence files and field books. The volume contains an alphabetical name index.

The series consists of a volume of indexed orders from the:
Greenwood Supreme Court, 1912-1916 (p.1-22)
Greenwood County Court, 1916-1919 (p.22-30).
An order is the document, filed in the court registry, which sets out the decision of the judge or master.

Boundary District Provincial Police files, consisting of correspondence, reports, jail calendars, vouchers, etc., from Coalmont, Fairview, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Hedley, Keremeos, Midway, Oliver, Penticton, Phoenix and Princeton, and correspondence with other police districts and with Victoria Headquarters.

These records were copied from originals loaned by the Penticton Museum in 1981. The originals had been transferred to the Penticton Museum and Archives by the Penticton area RCMP detachment. In 2006, the records were transferred to the BC Archives (accession 95-5924).

The numbered files that were microfilmed (40-1113 to 40-3500) appear to be consistent with the transferred originals. However, there are additional records on the microfilm (see the “Correspondence” and “Miscellaneous” sections in the Finding Aid).
