This series contains proceedings of the Forest Protection Officers' meetings held at Victoria: 11-13 December, 1962; 24-26 November, 1964 and 6-8 December 1966; Kamloops: 9-11 January 1968; and Victoria: 26-28 February, 1969; 8-10 December, 1970; 28-30 November, 1972 and 3-5 December, 1974. The purpose of these meetings was to improve techniques of the prevention and suppression of forest fires.

Forest Service vessels files and logbooks

This series contains log books of Forest Service launches "M.V. Salt Mist" and Landing Craft (L.C.) No. 5, as well as materials relating to the construction, maintenance and registration of Forest Service vessels. Although the earliest records date from 1921, some of the vessels had been in Departmental Service as early as 1913. The series alsoincludes a file of 10 b&w photographs of a boat launch and marine station building.

Files 1-5, Volume 1 are a property ledger for the period 1953-1955; File 6, Volume 1 through File 1, Volume 4 are a property ledger, 1961-1966; and Files 2-4, Volume 4 contain a uniform ledger, 1950-1970.

This series contains records of the Research Division of the Forest Service. Records include a report (carbon copy) on regeneration surveys carried out in 1962 by M. Crown, Forester-in-Training on Vancouver Island and on the Sechelt Peninsula, illustrated with hand coloured whiteprint map and a study of the survival rate of trees planted in the Southern Interior, an in-service reforestation report by M.B. Clark.

The briefs are grouped into four sections: (1) General, (2) support for the Eurocan proposal, (3) support for the Crown Zellerbach proposal, and (4) objections to both proposals.

Records consist of the fire-control equipment handbook (1946) and the radio handbook (1939) of the United States Forest Service. These manuals and the portable radio and fire-fighting gear were widely used by the B.C. Forest Service. Includes fire fighters' manuals (5 volumes, 1918-1942) prepared by the Western Forestry and Conservation Association and a catalog of portable fire fighting pumpers (1939).

The series also includes a literature review of the dwarf mistletoes by Job Kuijt, 1954 and an interim report on studies on the characteristics and ecology of the root system of second growth Douglas fir, by R.G. McMinn, 1954.
