The fonds consists of two series : Charles Ross papers (MS-3427) and the Charles Ross collection (MS-3428). The Charles Ross papers consist of both inward and outward correspondence from Charles Ross, as well as a letter from his wife Isabella (Mainville) Ross. The series also consists of Ross's appointment to Chief Trader of the Hudson's Bay Company. Records in MS-3428 were found in the Old Manuscript Collection at the BC Archives and had originally been cataloged as the "Charles Ross collection." The provenance of these records is unclear. The majority of the records in the Charles Ross collection relate tangentially to Ross, and consist mostly of records relating to Ross's in-laws.

Correspondence discusses both personal business and matters related to HBC forts. Some correspondence includes reference to Indigenous peoples, namely the Heiltsuk and Nuxalk.

Included in the collection are miscellaneous records acquired from sources including the O'Reilly and Trutch families, Helmcken family, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. The O'Reilly and Trutch records consist of family correspondence and records relating to Peter O'Reilly's career, particularly his work as the Commissioner of the Indian Reserve Commission. The Helmcken records include correspondence both made and received by John Sebastian Helmcken and James Douglas Helmcken, records relating to J.S. Helmcken's position in the colonial and provincial governments, and estate records. The Supreme Court records include correspondence of Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie, trial records, affidavits, bankruptcy files, estate files and other miscellaneous records. There are also miscellaneous records relating to a number of other notable personalities including the Mesher and Pauline families, J.A. McTavish, J.W. Bushby, W.R. Higgins, David McKean, William Manson, and Josephine Crease. Also includes records of organizations including the Victoria Jockey Club. Research notes consist of information relating to a paper presented by Pearce at the British Columbia Historical Society on John Sebastian Helmcken.

The fonds consists of records created by several members of Peter Skene Ogden's family between 1831 and 1864, and includes a file of material that was compiled in 1931 about Ogden. The bulk of the fonds includes material written or received by Peter Skene Ogden, although the fonds also includes correspondence and other records relating to his parents, Isaac Ogden and Sarah (Hanson) Ogden, his son, Peter Ogden, his nephew Michael Ogden, and his son-in-law, Archibald McKinlay. Much of the correspondence is personal in nature and documents Ogden's relationship with his family and the settling of his estate. The fonds also includes his appointments to Chief Trader and Chief Factor in the Hudson's Bay Company.

John Work fonds

The fonds consists of 15 journals, one notebook, and correspondence written by John Work. The notebook was written in 1834, and the journals extend from 1823-1835 when Work was traveling as a trader for the Hudson's Bay Company in the western US and western Canada area. These journals are arranged by date. There is an inventory of the journals and an original note by Work written in 1831.
The fonds also contains a 1945 transcription of Work's 13 May - 26 May, 1851 journal which was written while Work was looking for gold in the Queen Charlotte Islands.

The fonds consists of records relating to the missionary work of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI). Most records were created and accumulated by the administrations of various OMI provinces that have operated in British Columbia: St. Peter’s Province, St. Paul’s Vice-Province, St. Paul’s Province, and OMI Lacombe Canada. Additionally, the fonds contains some records created by the administration of the Vice-Province of Whitehorse. Other records pre-date the establishment of OMI provinces in Canada. Materials mostly relate to Oblate missionary work in British Columbia and the Yukon, but the fonds also includes some records pertaining to Oblate work throughout Canada, as well as records pertaining to foreign mission work (such as materials related to the OMI’s Provincial Delegation of Peru).

The originals are believed to belong to the Hudson's Bay Company Archives. The records deal with a variety of matters and were originally created between 1832 and 1858 during Anderson's employment with the Hudson's Bay Company.

Most of the correspondence consists of both originals and copies of letters outward written by Chief Factor John McLoughlin and Chief Traders James Douglas and Peter Skene Ogden however there are also letters sent by company clerk Dugald Mactavish. The letter book also includes private correspondence of James Douglas, 1866-1877.

The fonds consists of records generated by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, its subordinate branches, divisions and agencies and predecessors, relating to the administration of Indian affairs in British Columbia. The fonds includes records created in the offices of the Indian Reserve Commissioner, the Indian Commissioner, and the Chief-Inspector of Indian Agencies for the Department of Indian Affairs and the Indian Affairs Branch. It also includes records of the Victoria office of the Indian Superintendent of British Columbia. Copies of records from the National Archives of Canada include microfilm copies of parts of RG 10 (central registry files and records of the Indian Reserve Commission) and photocopies of finding aids. Types of records from the office of the Indian Superintendent of British Columbia include records books, cash books, cheque books, letters of credit, statement of accounts, schedules, and requisition receipt books.
