This series consists of the records of the Royal Commission of Inquiry, Health and Environmental Protection, Uranium Mining, 1978-1980. Records include exhibits, correspondence, questionnaires and miscellaneous research materials relating to the subject matter of the inquiry.

This series consists of the records of the Commission of Inquiry Into Certain Claims Respecting Lands Situated Within the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Land Belt, 1916. This commission was also known as Settlers' Rights Commission. Commission records include correspondence, claims submitted by settlers to the Commission and other miscellaneous records. No report has been found.

This series consists of files kept by R. Ross Napier in his capacity as Supervisor of Assessors and Government Agencies, including agency folders with inspections and reports on personnel. The series consists of minutes of decision of the Joint Indian Reserve Commission (1876-1878) of governments of Canada and British Columbia and of the Indian Reserve Commission (1878-1907) of the government of Canada regarding allotment of Indian reserves in British Columbia.

Records consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports and coloured maps of the reserve allotments. Although these records are called Joint Reserve Commission records, they probably form part of the British Columbia Department of Lands and Works fonds. Most of the records are stamped with the Lands and Works Dept. stamp and also have Lands and Works file numbers assigned to each, after they were received from the Commission. Some files then had additional related records added to by Department staff, as reserves were surveyed or related issues came up. Additional records were added to several files by Department of Lands staff up to 1949.

In addition, the series includes an item level precis of each document, created by the Dept. of Lands in 1980. The precis are filed in the first file of each box.

The Commissioner, C.K. Clarke, M.D. of the Rockwood Asylum for the Insane (Kingston, Ontario), was appointed to inquire into all matters connected with the general administration of the Hospital for the Insane at New Westminster. Records include the Commissioner's 14 page report in which he called attention to certain administration defects and offered recommendations. He also noted advances and advocated changes in the treatment of patients.

The commissioner, Thornton Fell, Victoria barrister and Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, was appointed 4 July 1912 to inquire into all matters concerning the proposed incorporation of the City of Alberni. Commission records consist of the original signed report, maps, exhibits, petition in favour of incorporation and evidence taken at the hearings.

This series consists of the records of the Royal Commission on Matters Relating to the Sect of Doukhobors in the Province of British Columbia, 1912. Commissioner William Blakemore was appointed in August 1912 to enquire into the organization, habits, customs and practices of the Doukhobor communities in British Columbia.

The series also includes a photograph album entitled Doukhobor Commission photographs : Photographic views to illustrate the report of the Doukhobour [sic] Commissioner (see GR-0793.5). The album is frequently referred to throughout the report.

The commissioner, Vancouver barrister Henry Osborne Alexander, was appointed to investigate the actions of past and present Boards of School Trustees of the City of Vancouver with regard to purchase and sale of school sites and school property, the purchase of furniture and supplies and generally all matters coming under the Board's jurisdiction. He was to investigate also the personal actions of all Board members, officers and employees, and appointments made by the Board.
