Animated cartoons reveal the historical roots of air pollution in Vancouver. Live-action footage includes general views of Vancouver, as well as various sources of air pollution -- smokestacks, sawmill waste burners, traffic, waste incinerators, etc. Efforts to regulate the problem are shown.

A.J.T. Taylor : reminiscences

The item is a sound recording of Victoria-born businessman A.J.T. Taylor. Taylor promoted the development of the British Pacific Properties in West Vancouver, and the construction of Lions Gate Bridge. These recordings, made by the BBC during a visit to England in 1936, have Taylor reminiscing about Victoria, Nanaimo and Vancouver (1890s-1910s), including his experiences in the boarding house business. The interview seems to be incomplet;e, suggesting that some additional discs are missing.

Allan D. Taylor film collection

The collection consists of video copies of 36 film items from the Allan D. Taylor collection held by Library and Archives Canada. These selected items (mainly newsreel footage and out-takes) depict British Columbia events, leisure activities, scenery and cityscapes in Victoria and Vancouver, on Vancouver Island, or in the Interior (for example, Kamloops and Lillooet), during the period 1907-1931. Several items filmed during World War One show events related to the war, including the departures of various military units for the conflict. The collection includes at least one item fillmed by Vancouver filmmaker A.D. "Cowboy" Kean, and a few others that are attributed to him.
