Ruth Creek stream clearance

The item is a reel of film footage. At Ruth Creek on Vancouver Island, staff members of the Salmonid Enhancement Program are shown clearing log jams and fallen trees from key stream areas to enable fish to find their way upstream.

The item is a timber cruiser's logbook, apparently owned by Donald Alexander McPhee. The book contains sketch maps of Victoria Lumber and Manufacturing Company lots in the Cowichan and other South Vancouver Island districts with timber types noted.

Locomotive fuel book

The series is a 1930 locomotive fuel book in one volume, listing fuel taken on and consumed by the E & N's oil fired locomotives. Also lists operating engineer and fireman (index to locomotives on page 2). Notes in volume include 1936 bi-election results (p. 26) and lyrics of popular songs (p. 51-57).

Letters to Lyall Newcomen Cooper

The file consists of letters to Lyall Newcomen Cooper encouraging him to retire on Vancouver Island. The letters are from George A. Walkem and "Stiffy" Fairhurst encouraging Cooper to retire to Vancouver Island from the Sudan and offering advice on social life, sport, and country properties; letters from Walkem to B.C. Agent General and head of the Canadian Pacific Railway in London asking the them to assist Cooper and outlining his wants and documents re Egyptian service.
