This series consists of correspondence and reports concerning laws, statutes, titles, and emblems. Records include files regarding the Provincial Elections Act, Engineering Profession Act, Daylight Saving Act, Public Documents Disposal Act, and Historic Objects Preservation Act. Records also concern the authorized use of the name "British Columbia", provincial coat-of-arms, and royal styles and titles. Additional files concern Court mourning observances and Princess Margaret's Portland Island. These records were originally part of a larger series, transferred separately to the PABC and catalogued as GR-1661.

Centennial '58 Committee records

Records of the committee established by the Centennial Celebration Act of 1956 to celebrate the centenary of the mainland colony of British Columbia in 1958. Includes records of various sub-committees and applications from communities for provincial grants for commemorative projects. General chairman of the committee was L.J. Wallace, Deputy Provincial Secretary. Records in this unit were maintained by committee's secretary, W.B. Ireland, Provincial Librarian and Archivist.

GR-1448 consists of the files kept by W.E. Ireland who, in addition to his duties as Honorary Secretary, served as a member of the screening committee for applications for community projects. He also served as chairman of the subcommittee on Historic Sites and Publications which commissioned Margaret A. Ormsby's British Columbia: A History.

Lotteries Branch records

This series contains records from the Lotteries Branch, a division of the Ministry of Provincial Secretary that was established by the Lotteries Act in May, 1974. The Branch was the licensing authority for bingos, lotteries, and other forms of social gambling in the Province. The Branch also administered the Western Canada Lottery Foundation in B.C., a co-operative lottery run in conjunction with the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. This series consists of newspaper clippings collected by the Branch between 1978 and 1983. The clippings deal with lottery winners and other lottery-related news.

Consists of correspondence inward to Superintendents John Jessop (1872-1878), C.C. McKenzie (1878-1884), and S.D. Pope (1884-1899). Types of records include petitions for school buildings, applications for teaching posts, minutes of local school boards, school trustees' reports, etc. This series may be used in conjunction with GR-0449 (Superintendent of Education, Indexes to Correspondence Inward, 1881-1915) and GR-0450 (Superintendent of Education, Correspondence Outward, 1872-1919).

Researchers should also be aware of the Correspondence Inward files of the Provincial Secretary, 1871-1892 (GR-0526). Since the Provincial Secretary was responsible for the Education Department, these files contain many records pertaining to teachers, schools, and education matters in general. Access to documents in GR-0526 is through GR-0524 (Provincial Secretary. Registers and indexes of letters inward, 1872-1924). Documents pertaining to education, etc. are indexed under the headings "SCHOOLS", and "EDUCATION, SUPERINTENDENT".
