Part of Fred Lade fonds
The series consist collected photographs of the Kootenay region, primarily dating from the early 1900s. The photographs document families, landscapes, and activities in Beaton, Camborne, Trout Lake, Ferguson, Sandon, Silverton, St. Leon, Arrowhead and Arrow Lakes, Comaplix, and the Lardeau region. Many of the photographs show mines and stage coaches.
The photographs appear to have been collected by Fred Lade, a resident of the area, and he is presumed to have created the arrangement structure (see below). The arrangement suggests that some photographs were collected from other individuals or families (e.g. Gunterman, Angus, etc). The majority of the photographs have been identified on the verso and these captions are available in the file lists at lower-level descriptions. The captions are presumed to have been provided by Fred Lade.
