Promotional film. General views of grounds, building exteriors, gardens. Commissioned by the trust company responsible for selling the Hatley Park property, this film apparently played a part in the sale of the property to the federal government in 1940 for use as a military college.
Training film. Helicopter safety for forestry students. Shows Vancouver Island Helicopters working on various jobs, and describes the safety precautions that need to be taken around helicopters. Projects shown as examples are in Pacific Rim Park (repairing bridges on the West Coast Trail); in the vicinity of Williston Lake (setting up a Geological Survey of Canada camp); and north of Terrace.

Special event coverage. Chronicles the August 28-30, 1956, inauguration of through-service on the Pacific Great Eastern Railway between North Vancouver and Prince George. Premier W.A.C. Bennett and other dignitaries ride the three inaugural trains, which are eagerly greeted by the residents of towns along the route. A rockslide at Mile 18 on Howe Sound delays the journey until a bulldozer clears the tracks. At Williams Lake station, a mock frontier lynching is staged for the entertainment of the premier and his party. Following footage of the arrival in Prince George, the film also shows progress on northward expansion of the PGE line (including bridge and grade construction), and ends with shots of oil rigs in the Peace River Region.

Pierre Berton appeals to broadcasters and others to preserve broadcast recordings and artifacts. His talk is illustrated by a television interview with Robert Service (1958), plus film and video footage from the 1920s to the 1970s.
