Edward S. Curtis audio recordings

The series comprises audio tape copies of wax cylinders recorded by Edward S. Curtis in the period 1907-1913. The cylinders document some 279 Indigenous songs, recorded at various villages and reservations in the United States and Canada.

Tapes T4224:0020 to 0025 includes songs SCY 0220 - 0267, most of which were recorded in British Columbia and Washington state from June 1910 to May 1913. These five tapes include songs from the Clayoquot (Nootka), Cowichan, Haida, Hesquiat (Nootka), Kwakiutl, Makah (Nootka), and Wishliam/Wishram (Washington) cultural groups. The identified performers heard on the B.C. material include John Mutlatse, Muquina, Maltaw'aaksa, Tutis'api, John Davis, and St"ahm'ai (John Wesley).

Federal election campaign of Doug Davis, Vancouver Centre, 1974

RECORDED: Vancouver (B.C.), 1974-05 to 1974-07 SUMMARY: Sound recordings documenting the federal election campaign of Progressive Conservative candidate Doug Davis in the electoral district of Vancouver Centre, 1974. The creation of the recordings was authorized by Mr. Davis, and every aspect of the campaign was covered. There are also interviews with the candidate, his campaign manager, and various other executives on the campaign committee. The tapes were subsequently edited into a one-hour documentary of the CBC Radio program "Concern".
