Amelia Taylor correspondence outward

The file consists of one letter written by Amelia Taylor to her uncle Horatio Nelson Calder. The letter was written at the Red River Settlement in July 1850. The contents of the letter are largely personal, and include information about her children and sisters.

The item is a register book containing applications for crown grants. The volume is arranged alphabetically and includes the name of the person or company requesting the grant, the description and location of the lot, the date and the name of the person applying for the grant (either the requestor or someone acting on their behalf).

Applications to pre-empt

The file consists of applications to pre-empt parcels of land on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands from 1871 to 1872. Many are accompanied by sketch maps of the lots claimed and correspondence. The applications are in chronological order and have lands file numbers written on the first page. These file numbers have been crossed out and replaced with pre-emption numbers P239 to P413.
