Form 2B - Summary Convictions. This report of Summary Convictions for the judicial district of University Hill was completed quarterly (March 1962 - December 1967 and monthly (January 1968 - March 1973) by Magistrate M.E. Ferguson. Form 2B is a form generated by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics (authorized by the Statistics Act) in order to compile statistics on the number of cases terminating in a conviction, absolute discharge or conditional discharge from a summary convictions court. The form includes very detailed instructions and explanations for its completion and submission to the Dept. of the Attorney-General. About 150 offences are listed as well as possible dispositions: fine, probation, prison, or discharge (all categories subdivided "M" or "F"). Remuneration of one cent per summary conviction was paid to the person transmitting the report.
Loose material removed from the cause book to the Small Debts Court in South Vancouver. There are summonses, orders, and affidavits from 2 case files (7/20 Leesdale v. Perrin; 18/23 Hudson v. Janes), court calendars from July and September 1928, correspondence from 1926 and notes.

The series consists of records of the Vancouver City Police Force Inquiry. Records include the Commission Secretary's minutes and list of exhibits (1955-1956); a letter to the Attorney-General's office (1955); an unsigned memorandum; the interim report (1955) and the final report (1956) by Commissioner Reginald Hibbert Tupper; and 35 volumes of evidence in transcript form and transcripts of proceedings (1955-1956). Volumes 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the transcripts of evidence were never received by the BC Archives.

Series consists of Coroners' inquiries conducted in Vancouver for 1938-1965. Records may also include some Vancouver inquisitions/inquests. The series carries on from GR-1323 and is continued in GR-1504 and GR-1726.

They are alphabetical by name of the assignor and include the following information: case number; name of assignor; name of assignee; date instrument registered with the Vancouver court; and the register reference number (volume and page). The register of book accounts assigned are found in GR-1894.

Entries may provide a case number, which can be used to locate an associated record within a plaint and procedure book or a case record card. Plaint and procedure books were used by county courts until approximately the mid-1970s. They were replaced by case record cards, which were used until the courts turned to digital systems in the 1990s.
Over time, index entries vary and may be searchable by the name of the plaintiff, the defendant, a third party, or an alias. Original records were destroyed after microfilming; retrieve records using microfilm. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 53200-20.

Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court, judgements are the final orders issued in a case, and reasons for judgement provide the court's rationale. All BC County Courts ceased to exist after their merger with the BC Supreme Court in 1990. Any records dated after 1 July 1990 are for County Court proceedings that were initiated prior to that date.

This series contains a plaint and procedure book for cases heard before Judge Henderson, Feb 1902 - Jul 1904. This volume contains the same type of information as other plaint and procedure books, but is in a different format.

The records are arranged by case number, which can be found by using the indexes in GR-1650. Beginning in 1976, cases were arranged by case number within two series: other civil ("F") and motor vehicle (“E”). Case numbers each begin with the letter of their corresponding series. GR-3146 is an index to these volumes.
