A small number of records contain correspondence and personal records related to Wallace’s family history in addition to collected ephemera related to centennial celebrations.

Maps : Victoria Assessment and Collection district

The series consists of nine maps created or acquired by the Taxation Branch in 1935-1936. The plans were used to show the new Victoria Assessment and Collection district created October 12, 1936. The maps are printed copies of those published by the Canadian Department of National Defence in 1935. The printed maps show surveyed land lots, land district boundaries and district lots and blocks within E&N Rly. land grant. The maps were mounted on cardboard and some have been annotated with pencil to show names of property owners and boundaries.

The nine maps are as follows:

The fonds consists of correspondence received by Matilda John in Victoria from Harold Penn Wilson between 1899 and 1900. Wilson, a bank clerk from Victoria, moved to Bennett in 1899, and Atlin in 1900. In the letters, he described the journey north and what it was like to live and work there.

Maynard family collection

Collection consists of records created by members of the Maynard family, primarily Hannah Hatherly Maynard and Richard Maynard. Hannah, Richard, and their son, Albert Hatherly Maynard, were professional photographers based in Victoria. Records include photograph albums, a portion of the photographic portfolio of Hannah and Richard Maynard, a studio register with over 5,000 customer entries for portrait orders fulfilled by Mrs. R. Maynard's Photographic Gallery, and a small number of textual business records. Within this collection, the works of other photographers and photographic studios may be found. Images depict studio portraits, family gatherings, field photographs for Department of Indian Affairs tours of inspection of Indigenous communities, construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway (C.P.R.), documentary photographs of the natural history collection of the Provincial Museum (now Royal BC Museum), and Hannah's experimental artistic works such as tableau vivants, photocollages, composites, montages, photo-sculptures, and double- and multiple-exposure studio portraits.

Records within this collection have been arranged into series that roughly correspond to Maynard Collection numbers that were assigned according to themes by either one of the Maynard family members or early BC Archives staff.

Militia district 11 (B.C.) correspondence

The series consists of two volumes of correspondence created or collected by the Militia stationed at Victoria. The first volume, 1874-1876, contains correspondence regarding payment and accounting procedures from the Dept. of Militia and Defense in Ottawa to Captain Edward Mallandaine, paymaster for Militia district 11. The second volume, 1875-1896 (with gaps) contains correspondence from various militia officers stationed at Work Point barracks to the private secretary of the Lieutenant-Governor, most of it social or ceremonial in nature.

Records of interest in this series include minutes "relative to the Indian troubles on the Skeena River," from 1888.; dispatches, reports, and correspondence concerning the relocation of Songhees Indian reserve, 1893-1896. The series also includes a copy of the Report on British Columbia for Royal Colonial Institute (for use in British elementary schools), 1884.

The files may also include oath of residence and certificates of naturalization.

Parliamentary portraits

The series consists of large format photographic prints known as "Parliamentary portraits", taken between 1991 and 2022. The portraits are generally taken once per Parliament and show the members of the Legislative Assembly in the Legislative Chamber, at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria, B.C. Dates and Parliamentary sessions are noted and some photographs are accompanied by legends, naming each person in the photograph. Each photograph is taken from the entrance to the chamber and typically shows the Premier, the Leader of the Opposition, the Speaker and other members of the Speaker's and Clerk's office in the centre by the Speaker's chair. The MLA's are at their desks, the government members traditionally sit on the Speaker's right and the opposition on the Speaker's left.
