Series contains a variety of official documents in regards to the governing of the west coast, documents regarding official governing appointments for James Douglas, an address on the occasion of Douglas' retirement, a certificate commemorating Douglas' retirement, a condolences letter for Lady Douglas after James Douglas’ death, bound private notebooks, records of financial transactions, and several journals.

"Our Indians in British Columbia"; describes Indians in vicinity of Yale and missionary activities at Lytton, said to have been written by a Sister of All Hallow's School, Yale [correspondence file].

The file is an autograph book of Madelon Cruickshank (nee Derdinger) who emigrated from Alsace-Lorraine to Victoria ca. 1875. Her Aunt Sarah, Mrs. David Oppenheimer, gave her this book. Madelon later lived in Yale, B.C. and San Francisco before returning to Victoria and marrying George Cruickshank. The signatures in the book are from people in Victoria, Yale and San Francisco, 1880-1883.

The file consists of an account book kept by the Oppenheimer Bros. of Yale in 1874. It details the account of purchases made by G.M. Elmore.

The item consists of one album of approximately 150 photographs depicting landscapes, architecture, and people in Malta, South Africa (Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope, Table Bay, and Simon’s Bay), Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Victoria), and British Columbia (Hope, Yale, and the Fraser River). Photographs of British Columbia taken by Francis George Claudet.

All photographs have been captioned by the album creator. A paper bookplate has been adhered to the inside front cover depicting a heraldic badge containing the motto “forte scutum salus ducum” ("A Strong Shield is the Salvation of Leaders”, the motto of the Earl Fortescue peerage) with the name “Carlingford” beneath. It is probable that the album was created by or for Hugh Fortescue (16 April 1854-29 October 1932), the 4th Earl Fortescue.

This series consists of records related to the postal service operated in the colony of British Columbia, from 1858-1871. The records were created at post offices around BC, including Fort Yale, Lillooet, Hope, Lytton, William Creek, as well as the Postmaster General office in New Westminster. There is also one book from the Victoria post office.

Most records document the movement of mail between the Cariboo district and New Westminster along the Fraser River. Most of the volumes record the arrival, departure and destination of letters or parcels. There are also various financial account books tracking sale the of stamps and expenses. The records are arranged chronologically.

This series consists of various records transferred from the Vernon Government Agent's office. Many of the records were created by predecessor Government Agents who worked in Yale, Osoyoos or other parts of the Okanagan District before an Agent was stationed in Vernon. The majority of the records are tax assessment rolls for the Okanagan District from 1880-1884. Other records include applications for the sale of unsurveyed land and pre-emption records; reference material likely from the sessional papers, including bills; cofferdam contract; and a statement of collectors of revenue; and an indexed register of collected taxes.
