The series consists of meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence, expenditure lists, reports, news releases, guidelines and statistics created by East Kootenay Health Unit 1 between 1978 and 1982. The Infant Development program was established in 1979 to provide home-based services for developmentally delayed infants up to the age of 3. The series consists of records documenting the organization and functions of committees within the Development program and includes records from the program’s nascent years. By extension, these records also document the establishment of the Development program itself. Also included in the series are short consultant reports and newsletter-style annual reports. The series also includes early news releases and briefs regarding the program..

Records in this series are arranged by committee. The series is covered by ARCS 200-20 (Committee files).

The fonds consists of Dewdney's diaries, 1880-1884 (F/5.2/D51, written while Indian Commissioner of the Northwest Territories and Manitoba, a copy of his will (1913), correspondence (1882-1896), and miscellaneous papers (1892-1916). The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by sender and covers a variety of topics including: the proposed purchase of property at Coal Harbour, Vancouver; conservative politics; purchase of land in Manitoba; Chiefs Crowfoot and Poundmaker; treatment of Indians; and danger of starvation amongst the whites. Also includes some letters from Peter O'Reilly of Victoria.

The series also includes a notebook [probably kept by S.J. Willis, Superintendent of Education] containing memoranda re: school programmes, applications for employment, membership of curriculum revision committees, school inspectors, school buildings grants and education financing, 1931-1945. As well, this notebook contains typescripts by S.J. Willis on "Accredited High School," "Teacher Training (1934)," "School Finance" and "High School Curriculum & High School Correspondence Courses".

The series consists of photographs ca. 1872 to 1971 acquired by the Department of Education library for the purpose of illustrating a special historical supplement to the one hundredth annual report. The supplement was published in 1971 and given the title “one hundred years: education in British Columbia.” The photographs include images of schools in British Columbia, school and education officials, children and classrooms and other education related views. Although some of the photographs were from the department library, many were copies acquired from a number of different sources including the Provincial Archives and the Department of Education's audio-visual services.
