The series consists of letter book copies of outward correspondence and cash book entries written by William George Cox, Gold Commissioner, Rock Creek, June 1861 - Nov. 1862 (and Jan. 26 and March 4, 1863).

This series consists of a record of land claims and government reservations, by William George Cox, Esq., Magistrate, Rock Creek, B.C., 1860-1862. Cox was the magistrate and Gold Commissioner for this area at the time. The volume includes descriptions of land claimed by settlers, as well as general government reserves and Indian Reserves. The back of the volume was used as a Sheriff's book for the County of Cariboo, and a police charge book, 1861.

The series consists of correspondence and applications made to the Colonial Dept. of Lands and Works between 1862-1871, and its successor agency, the Provincial Dept. of Lands and Works between 1871-1873 regarding land pre-emptions in the Cariboo district. Some of the correspondence regarding mining interests originated with William Cox, the Gold Commissioner for the Cariboo district.

Judge's inscribed copy of Herbert Broom and Leonard Shelford, The Practice of the County Court (London, England, 1858). The volume contains inscriptions in the handwriting of P.J. O'Reilly and W.G. Cox, as well as artwork by Cox. The inscriptions say: "Government of British Columbia Magistrate at Fort Hope" and "Government of British Columbia, Cariboo East, 1863". The volume is bound with an animal skin spine.

The fonds consists of three letters from William George Cox explaining why he could not pay his bills.

The fonds consists of a day book and diary kept by Fitzgerald while he was a member of W.G. Cox's Alexandria Expedition in pursuit of the perpetrators of the Bute Inlet massacre. [Also available on microfilm.]
