Bankruptcy minute books of meetings of creditors held in Vernon, Kelowna, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Merritt and Penticton, 1923-1956.

This series contains records relating to the Royal Commission on the Tree-Fruit Industry of British Columbia.

The Royal Commission on the Tree-Fruit Industry of British Columbia was established by Order in Council 3181 on 21 December 1956 pursuant to section 3 of the Public Inquiries Act with Earle Douglas MacPhee appointed as sole commissioner. The Commission was to inquire into the problems of production, packing, storage, processing and marketing of the products of the tree-fruit industry of the Province, and in particular into what constitutes an economic unit of production; the economics of packing, storage, and processing facilities, procedures, and techniques employed in the Province; and the factors involved in the marketing of tree-fruit products.

The Commission established offices in Penticton and conducted public and closed hearings and meetings between January 1957 and August 1958. A three-volume report was submitted in October 1958.

The series consists of hearing and meeting transcripts, exhibits, research surveys, studies and reports, correspondence, administrative files and a final report. Missing are a number of the formally registered exhibits however correspondence and geographically arranged files appear to contain copies of similar briefs or information. Receipts indicate that some exhibits containing business records were returned to submitters.

Records of the Mining Recorder, Osoyoos. Record book of applications for certificates of work on mineral claims at Boundary Creek, Osoyoos, Fairview, Penticton, and Camp McKinney, Osoyoos Mining Division. The volume contains a nominal index.

The series consists of a selection of pre-emption record files originally created by the Dept. of Lands Government Agent W.R. Dewdney, stationed at Pentiction. The selection is a random sample of 13 cm from the original ca. 2.5 metres of records and covers the period 1920 to 1955. The files contain correspondence and other information regarding land
pre-emptions in the Penticton area.

The series consists of original wills probated between 1986 and 1998 in the Penticton Supreme Court registry.

The wills are arranged by probate number, which can be found by using file list ‘Part II: 1982-2006’ associated with GR-3007. Not all probate records have an accompanying will. In January 1989, the probate numbering sequence was re-set, starting with probate number 0020. As such, some probate numbers within this series have been used twice, but for different years. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51460-30.

Series consists of original civil orders and judgements created between 1922 and 1941 by the Penticton Supreme Court. Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court and judgements are the final orders issued in a case. Records relate to a variety of civil matters including divorces.

The series consists of Penticton letters of administration with wills annexed from the County Court, 1928-1946 (Form 157) and from the Supreme Court, 1927-1976 (Form B).

The 4 volumes comprise: County Court letters of admin with wills (1928-1946), numbers 20-448; Supreme Court letters of admin with wills (1927-1952), numbers 78-1282; Supreme Court letters of admin with wills (1952-1967), numbers 1272-3356 and Supreme Court letters of admin with wills (1967-1976), numbers 3362-5426.

The series consists of divorce index ledgers created by the Supreme Court in Penticton between 1977 and 1988. The ledgers are organized by year and alphabetically by surname of the divorcing party.

The location of the cause books to which the indexes refer is unknown.

Series consists of divorce case files created in 1933 and 1940-1949 by the Penticton Supreme Court registry. Case files typically include decrees absolute/final orders, petitions, affidavits, bills of costs, subpoenas, proceedings at trial, exhibitions, and other related documents. A decree absolute/final order was not granted in all cases.

The records are arranged by case file number, as assigned by the Court Registry. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51440-20.

Series consists of original civil orders and judgements created by the Penticton Supreme Court registry from March 1951 to December 1987 and April 1990 to June 1992. Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court and judgements are the final orders issued in a case. Records relate to a variety of civil matters including divorces, bankruptcies, probates, foreclosures, and some adoptions.

Orders and judgements are interfiled. Records up to December 1987 are arranged by volume and folio number as assigned by the court registry. Initially, folio numbers were assigned to each page of a record. Beginning July 1981, each record was assigned only one folio number. Records from 1990-1992 are arranged chronologically by entered date. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.

The series consists of original civil orders and judgements created between 1975 and 1987 by the Penticton County Court registry. Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court and judgements are the final orders issued in a case. Prior to their merger with the BC Supreme Court in 1990, county courts were the second major level of court and the first level at which civil cases could be heard. They were the first appeal level for cases from Magistrates, Police, or Provincial courts and it was the level at which more serious criminal charges were heard.

Records are arranged by volume and folio number as assigned by the court registry. Initially, folio numbers were assigned to each page of a record. Beginning June 1981, each record was assigned only one folio number. Orders and judgements are interfiled. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.

This series consists of civil cause books from the Kelowna Supreme Court, from 1951-1977. Only indexes are available for the years 1923-1946. The books includes cases related to adoption, divorce, estate administration, probates and other civil matters. Some files are noted as Penticton files.

This series includes records related to forest tenures in the Kamloops Forest Region from 1987-1998. The series currently includes records from the Kamloops Forest District, Penticton Forest District and Vernon Forest District within the larger Kamloops Forest Region.

Types of forest tenure records in this series include non-replaceable timber sale licences (TSLs), including licences issued under the Small Business Forest Enterprise (SBFEP) program and BC Timber Sales Program.

Records regard the issuance, evaluation, administration, monitoring, planning, replacement, cancellation and extension of forest tenures under the Forest Act.

Records include correspondence; licences; logging plans; log hauling and harvesting contracts; preharvest silviculture prescriptions, reviews and amendments; harvest inspection reports and appraisals; stumpage calculations; records related to right of ways and Forest Service Road permits; reports; maps; and photos.

The series also includes legal documents for cutting permits for replaceable forest licences and tree farm licence (TFL) 35. These files may include some of the records described above, but primarily contain records related to silviculture prescriptions and surveys.

The records have been classified as 19500-45 and 19620-25 in the Forestry Operational Classification System (ORCS).
