The item consists of six reels of unedited film footage, from around 1971. It contains material shot for a production that was never completed. Includes much footage of the P.N.E. (midway, rides, etc.), street scenes in downtown Vancouver and Gastown, a residential area, and cyclists (in Stanley Park?). Two teenage boys and a young man appear in some of the P.N.E. and downtown scenes.

General and aerial views of Vancouver, plus sequences on the harbour, Vancouver International Airport, Stanley Park, UBC, the Vancouver International Festival and the PNE. Industry is depicted through shots of a sawmill, a fish cannery, a foundry and a shipyard (where the vessel Yukon is launched). Water sports, golf and skiing at Grouse Mountain are shown, as well as Queen Elizabeth Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Granville Street at night and a White Spot drive-in.

It shows post-polio treatment at a rehabilitation centre in Vancouver and at Vancouver General Hospital including men and women in wheelchairs playing basketball and volleyball; occupational therapy; hospital wards and cafeteria. Also shows the transportation of polio patients from outlying areas by the RCAF.

It depicts a scenic trip on the "Queen of Prince Rupert" from Kelsey Bay to Prince Rupert introducing such destinations as Vancouver, Victoria and the Cariboo. Includes shots of Active Pass, Barkerville, Campbell River and the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. The Inside Passage and the province's highways are seen as parallel north-south "highways."

Sequences include: prospecting; claim staking; the use of helicopters; core sampling; construction of mine access roads; planning the mining of an ore body; lead-zinc mining operations in the Sullivan Mine; processing of ore by crushers, ball mills and flotation cells; residential scenes in mining towns (Fraser Lake, Pine Point, Ashcroft); Cominco smelter at Trail; contribution to steel industry (pig iron and coke); training of mining technicians at BCIT; role of the BC & Yukon Chamber of Mines, including its Prospectors' Mining School; Vancouver and Port Moody dockside scenes showing concentrates, coal and ingots being loaded.

British Columbia international trade fair : 1961 trade fair

The item is a composite print of a promotional film which depicts the 1961 BC International Trade Fair. Footage shows interior of exhibition halls, preparation of displays, special events; Premier W.A.C. Bennett at the fair; airliners arriving at airport; freighters unloading. Also promotes the forthcoming 3rd BC International Trade Fair in 1964. A French version was also released.
