Fort George district lot registers

This series consists of Cariboo Land District, auctioneer's agreements, subdivision lots 11385, at Fort George from 1914. The lots were subdivided from District Lots 343, 933, 934, 936, 938, and 1429, and are arranged randomly by lot and sublot, but numerically by certificate number, in each volume. Information may include date of sale, name and address of highest bidder and amount bid, deposit, and terms of sale. No index is available.

The series includes two volumes. Volume 1 includes entries for certificates 1-721, and volume 2 is 722-1385.

Cariboo lot registers

This series consists of Cariboo Land District lot registers. This includes subdivision lot registers for Fort George, Summit Lake, Red Pass, and a McBride townsite register with a list of reverted lots offered for sale by public auction in 1923. Earliest entries dated 1914 and all volumes were superseded by 1949 (i.e. no further entries were made after 1949).

The registers list lots in numerical order and record the alienation of land from the Crown (by purchase, auction, etc.). Information may include name of purchaser, dates and numbers of certificates issued (including Crown Grants), dates and amounts of payments, and references to correspondence files and field books. Upset prices are also listed. There is an alphabetical name index in each volume.

This series contains operational records of the Prince George Forest District relating to forest administration, 1919-1981. Records are arranged according to the Forest Service filing system. These records include annual reports, ranger meeting summaries, records regarding timber exports, forest protection, forest reserves, the Peace River hydroelectric projects, the Mica Dam flood basin, land use, timber cruising, silviculture, aerial photography, rights-of-way, timber sales, timber licenses, Public Sustained Yield Units, tree farm licences, and forest wood lot licenses. Also contains construction and maintenance reports pertaining to ranger stations, lookouts, forest roads and trails, boathouses, telephone lines and other Forest Service facilities. Records consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports, licenses, permits, plans, etc.

Prince George Supreme and County Court index to civil orders and judgements

The series consists of an index to civil orders and judgements created between 1984 and 1996 by the Prince George Supreme and County Courts. Entries provide a file number, the style of cause (including names of plaintiffs and defendants), a description of the order and/or judgement, and volume and folio numbers, which can be used to located associated orders and judgements found in GR-4156 (1965-1989). The index relates to orders and judgments on a variety of civil matters including divorces, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and some adoptions.

The index is arranged by file number. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.

Prince George Supreme and County Court civil orders and judgements

The series consists of civil orders and judgements created between 1965 and 1989 by the Prince George Supreme and County Courts. There are County Court orders and judgements for only 1984 to 1989. Orders are the formal expression of the ruling of the court and judgments are the final orders issued in a case. The records relate to a variety of civil matters including divorces, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and some adoptions.

Records are arranged by volume and folio number as assigned by the court registry. Orders and judgements are interfiled unless otherwise indicated. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.

The earliest entry is 1954, giving the name and file number, additional information is: name of Crown Counsel, bail (yes or no), date of election, date of trial, nature of the charge, sentence and remarks.

Prince George Forest District timber tenures

This series consists of various timber tenure records from the Prince George Forest District, created from 1957-2005. The majority of the records were created in the 1990s. The Prince George Forest District was part of the larger Prince George Forest Region from 1978-2003, and the Northern Interior Forest Region from 2003-2010. Records from prior to 1978 were created by the original Prince George Forest District, which covered a much larger area with multiple sub regions. All records in this series relate to the area surrounding the city of Prince George.

Types of forest tenure records in this series include: licences to cut, special use permits, forest licences, cutting permits, timber sale licences, and woodlot licences. There are also records related to tree farm licences (TFL) numbers TFL 28, TFL 29, TLF 30, TFL 31, TFL 34, and TFL 53.

Records regard the issuance, evaluation, administration, monitoring, planning, replacement, cancellation, deletion and extension of forest tenures, as well as operations information. Operations information includes business and planning records regarding the establishment and operations of mills and other forestry related projects. They provide additional context of how and why licences were applied for and approved, as well as relevant administrative history of the companies such as name changes, changes in ownership and financial information.

Records include legal documents, clearance records, stumpage rate calculations, correspondence, maps, development plans, working plans, policies, applications, procedures and photos.

Prince George Supreme Court divorce cause books and case record cards

The series consists of cause books and case record cards for divorces in the Prince George Supreme Court between 1961 and 1984. The cause books and case cards can be used to find a volume and folio number, which can then be used to obtain a copy of the final divorce order. Cause books and case record cards often provide the only remaining evidence of a case if it was abandoned or dismissed, and no order was issued.

Cause books were used by the courts until approximately the mid 1970s. After this time, case cards were used until the courts turned to digital systems in the 1990s. Cause book and case card entries typically include the date of filing, the date and place of marriage, the names of the parties and their solicitors, and an account of the case proceedings. Entries in the cause book and case record cards are arranged chronologically by filing date.

Prince George Supreme Court divorce indexes

The series consists of indexes to divorces issued by the Prince George Supreme Court between 1968 and 1996. The records in accession 83-1593 are arranged alphabetically by surname, and include a column for the wife’s forenames, the husband’s forenames, and the file number. Please note that the file number provided is the “5927” number issued by the Central Divorce Registry. An entry in the index can then be used to locate the relevant cause book or case record card entry, which will then list a volume and folio number. The volume and folio, in turn, can then be used to obtain a copy of the divorce order. Records in accession 83-1104 are arranged by Central Divorce Registry number, and show this file number, the style of cause, a description of the order issued (decree nisi, decree absolute, change of name, custody order, etc) as well as the relevant volume and folio numbers.
