Consists of weather, power and water usage sheets, 1979-1982, paper machine speed reports, daily operating data and reports, and correspondence with the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association. Engineering Office plans and technical drawings

  • GR-3337
  • Series
  • 1909-[198-]

This series consists of architectural plans and technical drawings for townsite buildings and millsite buildings and machinery at Ocean Falls.

Variations in spelling occur throughout the titles of plans and drawings.

Letters following a drawing number indicates a revision (eg 18347A is the revision to 18347). In some cases, numbers were also used to note revisions.

Secondary numbers, where they exist, do not appear to have been assigned by staff at Ocean Falls but by contractors or companies, including Crown Zellerbach in Vancouver, who were consulted and made drawings or plans for the Ocean Falls site.

Letter prefixes of drawing numbers exist, in some cases, for the Townsite plans/drawings (T) and the Ocean Falls Company plans/drawings (OC).

Plans and drawings were made on linen, paper, and vellum and were stored in flat cabinets, rolled on wooden doweling and/or housed in cardboard boxes.

In most cases, physical storage of records, in the drawers of the cabinets in sequential order, reflects the filing system used while records were active at the millsite.

Engineering Office plans and technical drawings indexes and register

  • GR-3336
  • Series
  • 1916-[1980]

The series consists of indexes created by the Ocean Falls Corporation from 1916 to around 1980. The register is a sequential list of plans and drawings indicating those drawings that may have been obsolete during operations, 1916-1980.

Magistrates' returns

  • GR-3710
  • Series
  • 1963-1971

The series consists of magistrates’ returns sent to, and subsequently filed by, the Prince Rupert County Court between 1963 and 1971. The returns were generated by magistrates operating in Prince Rupert as well as in locations on Haida Gwaii (then known as the Queen Charlotte Islands), in Cassiar, Hixon, Bella Coola, Port Edward, Clinton, Ocean Falls, Eddontenajon and Yukon Territory, among others. Records in this series list the name of person convicted, nature of offense, date of conviction, amount of fine, amount of costs, and total. The returns list individuals charged under both the federal and provincial legislation and provide evidence of judicial operations in remote BC and Yukon settlements.

The records appear to have originally been housed in shannon folders, but the records were removed and placed in folders prior to transferal to the Archives. The records are arranged both by receipt number, which was often handwritten under the Prince Rupert County Court stamp, or alphabetically by magistrate’s surname. The records are then arranged chronologically by year.

Records in this series were managed and selected for retention under ORCS 50000-01 of the Court Services Operational Records Classification System (schedule 100152).
