File consists of 6 b&w photographs, some of which are copyprints from BC Archives, City of Victoria Archives, and Bancroft Library at University of California Berkeley. Photographs have captions on verso provided by Edythe Hembroff-Schleicher. Photographs are of a painted portrait, memorial to Robert Burns in Beacon Hill Park, Nan Cheney and Emily Carr, Architectural Museum in London, Mark Hopkins mansion in San Francisco, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carr (BC Archives reference number HP024834, A-9184)

The collection consists of artwork created or acquired by Emily Carr between ca. 1893 and 1945. This collection was acquired by the BC Archives over many years through donations and purchases. It includes sketchbooks, paintings and other artworks.

Sketch of Beatrice Florence Greenstock and Rose Butcher

Item consists of two portrait studies on one sheet, of two young girls by Sophia Pemberton. The sketches were undertaken in England and consist of the heads of two people. The upper one is identified as Beatrice Florence Greenstock and dated July 21, ca. 1899, and the lower one is identified as Rose Butcher and dated June 22, 1899.

The Most Beautiful Picture

One scene depicting a fellow student making Carr's meal time is unpleasant as her fellow art student talks about her own art pieces which are shown around the room.

The Olsson Student

Set of 10 gouache and ink drawings with text alongside each drawing. The series depicts Emily Carr entering Tregenna Wood, at St Ives, to sketch. She is watched by fellow art students Noel Simmons, Arthur Burgess, Hilda Fearon, Will Ashton and Marion Horne (who appear in the final image) as she heads into the woods. Sketches and text are a cumulative depiction, a new item of clothing or accoutrements is added each scene visually and in words..

One sketchbook with 130 drawings by Emily Carr, several pages of written text including lists, poems and commentary. This book appears to primarily document her time in St. Ives in Cornwall, outside the hours of her formal art schooling there.
