The Canadian War Service voting regulations, 1944 : book of key maps [annotated]

Item consists of one bound atlas measuring 45 x 38 cm. It contains 63 electoral district maps arranged from east to west for the cities of Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Hamilton, Windsor, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria. Maps vary in scale and include the districts' population as of the 1931 census. Each map includes an electoral district definition as defined in the Representation Act of 1933. Depending on their scale, maps depict railway lines, bodies of water, ferry routes, street names, and/or house numbers. The table of contents and many of the maps are annotated in graphite, red, or blue pencil. Maps 52 and 53 for Edmonton east and west (respectively) are missing.

Maps vary in scale and include the districts' population as of the 1941 census. Each map includes an electoral district definition as defined in the Representation Act of 1947. Depending on their scale, maps depict railway lines, bodies of water, ferry routes, street names, and/or house numbers. Electoral district, and some municipal, boundaries are in red.

Proposed government buildings, Victoria B.C.

Item is an architectural drawing possibly created by Christopher C. McRae for the 1892 British Columbia Parliament buildings design competition. The drawing shows the front elevation of the proposed building. In the upper right hand corner there is a rough pencil sketch showing a top view of three buildings.

Victoria General Hospital : Fairfield renovations

The file contains a set of four diazo prints of floor and electrical plans created by Wells Electrical Designs in Victoria in 1983 for renovations to the Victoria General Hospital located between Fairfield Road and Humboldt Street. The file consists of three floor and electrical plans of the first floor (Plan E1), third floor (Plan E4) and fourth floor (Plan E5) of the hospital's B, C and D wings. It also includes a plan of power riser and code loads for the B, C and X wings of the hospital (Plan E6). Plans E1, E4 and E5 also include key plans.

Commercial map of Greater Victoria

Item is a wall map titled "Commercial map of Greater Victoria" compiled and published by The Island Blueprint and Map Co. in Victoria, British Columbia, circa 1921. The map shows railways, electric railways, district names, paved streets, fire halls, schools, parks, postal block numbers, some buildings and district post offices. It includes a street index.

The Saanich Peninsula described, annotated, and illustrated together with a map of the citie of Victoria

Item consists of one colour map of the Saanich Peninsula and an insert of the "beauteous citie of Victoria situated in the southernmost parts of Vancouver's Island in North America". The map is illustrated with annotated, hand drawn images of ships, Royal Navy officers, totem poles, animals, and whimsical creatures.

E.H. Chamberlain is noted as "descripsit". "Litho'd in Canada by Colonist Printers Limited" is printed in the bottom right corner.

Rattenbury blueprints : Parliament buildings proposed additions

Item consists of one bound album measuring 69 x 48 cm. It contains 98 blueprint plans for Francis Mawson (F.M.) Rattenbury's 1911 proposed additions to the BC Parliament Buildings in Victoria, BC, including a new library, west wing, and east wing. Each plan has a small white tag adhered to the front with a Public Works number (i.e., area number 19, building number 1, type (A, S, E, or M), sheet number (200-250), and remarks number (nos. 22500-22599; no. 22563 is missing or was not assigned). Plans are arranged within the volume by the Public Works remarks number. Plans 22500-22565 are arranged by building section--library, west wing, east wing. Each building section includes floor plans, roof plans, details, and elevations that are dated April 1911, followed by steel plans dated April 1911, and then steel plans dated July 1911. Plans 22566-22584 are undated electrical plans, arranged by building section (i.e., library, west wing, and east wing), and attributed to Herbert C. Moss, Illuminating Engineer as well as Rattenbury. Plans 22585-22599 are undated heating and ventilation plans, arranged by building section (i.e., library, west wing, and east wing).

Found with the volume is a document from Snead & Co. Iron Works, Ltd., Toronto for "bookstack specifications for the British Columbia Parliamentary Library, Provincial Parliament Buildings, Victoria, B.C., F.M. Rattenbury, Esq., Architect." The document is numbered 701 and dated May, 20, 1913. Photographs and illustrations referenced in the document are missing. Specifications include materials, a guarantee, finishes, types of supports, dimensions, and shelving capacities.
