The diary documents the journey of miner John Waddell (1818-1870) to Vancouver Island in 1862 in search of gold during the Cariboo Gold Rush. Also included are notes on his journey to San Francisco in early 1862 aboard the California steamer Northern Light. The diary also describes his dealings with George A. Walkem, third Premier of British Columbia.

The transcript, completed by the donor in May 2017, includes and introduction and notes relevant to the diary's content.

The consists of a letter written by Thomas Robert Mitchell to his parents in 1862, outlining journey to and from the Cariboo gold fields. File includes a typescript copy which was made in 1993 by R.C. Harris. Also a map has been added.

The series consists of microfilmed transcripts of short essays on various subjects, including the transport and mining industries in B.C., the history of B.C., descriptions of Victoria and other B.C. cities by Cariboo grocer Leonard A. Coton. Also includes accounts of car trips taken by L.A. Coton to the Okanagan, the Cariboo and on Vancouver Island in the 1950s.

The item is a photocopy of the reminiscences of Ernest Hubert Allcock. Allcock emigrated from England to Alberta in 1909 and worked on farms and on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. In 1914 he homesteaded near White's Landing, north of Quesnel. He was highway foreman in Quesnel, and from 1941 to 1952 in Lillooet.

Recollections of author's boyhood in London, Ontario, studies at Ontario Agricultural College, and medical training at the University of Western Ontario, reminiscences of his career as medical practitioner in Alberta (1906) and Victoria (1907-1940). MS includes detailed account of author's military career - notably his service in South Africa (1899-1900) with Canadian Artillery and the Canadian Scouts; in Victoria (1907-1914) with 88th Fusiliers and Victoria Independent Squadron of Horse; and in Europe (1915-1918) with 2nd Battalion, Canadian Mounted Rifles, and 102nd Battalion (North British Columbians). Additional reminiscences of author's inter-war service with 16th Battalion (Canadian Scottish Regiment), and of his postings with 2nd Battalion (Canadian Scottish) [1940-1942] and Canadian Army Medical Corps. The series consists of 25 photographs taken by Frederick Dally along the Cariboo Road between Yale and Barkerville and 1 portrait photograph of Andrew Houstoun. The photographs were collected by Andrew Houstoun (1872-1944).

Records of business conducted; accounts of merchandise sold, 1866-1868 (liquor, sardines, cigars, matches), accounts of the Full Rigged Co. including payroll, amount of gold mined and bills paid, 1867-1927.

The series consists of 96 photographs of the Cariboo region, taken between June and October, 1915. Each glass plate consists of a stereo view photograph and the majority of the plates include a caption which identifies the subject, location, and date of the photograph. The photographs are arranged chronologically and depict mining operations and general views of the Fraser River, Quesnel, and Barkerville area. The photographs are thought to have been created by a professional miner, however their identity is not known.

The item consists of a microfilm copy of a day book, kept by John Lyne, a blacksmith at 150 Mile House, Clinton, and Quesnel, between 1906 and 1914.

The file consists of a ledger covering the period 1905 to 1908. It contains cash accounts of Quesnel area individuals.

The item consists of a photocopy of an account book, kept by William Lyne, a blacksmith at Williams Lake, between 1886 and 1896.

Letter from Theodore Davie, May 24, 1894, replying to a letter from Prentice stating that Davie had threatened to withhold money set aside in the estimates to reimburse the Western Canadian Ranching Company for road building if Prentice ran as an opposition candidate. Davie denies the accusation but expresses surprise that Prentice should ally himself with a group tending towards "Socialism and communism", and points out that the money had been granted because the government thought of Prentice as a deserving friend.

The file consists of an unidentified account book (possibly Quesnelle Quartz Mining Co.) from 1879 to 1890. The book contains accounts of Quesnel area individuals and businesses.

File consists of textual records including licenses to sell liquor, free miners certificates, receipts for goods purchased, telegraph messages, Royal Engineers discharge papers, a will, correspondence, a list of persons entitled to vote in electoral district of Cariboo, and other records created between 1863 and 1885. They are generally related to the Cariboo region, especially Richfield, Barkerville, Quesnel, William Creek, and Yale.
