The item is a compilation reel of film footage showing Christina Lake-Kinnaird highway opening (06-Oct-1962); Deas Island Thruway; Deas Tunnel toll removal; Upper Levels Highway. Trans-Canada Highway Motorcade leaving ferry at Swartz Bay; ceremony at B.C. Legislature (Premier Bennett speaking); Trans-Canada Highway ceremony at Mile 0, Victoria, with motorcade car dipping its front wheels in the Pacific. Federal government opening ceremony at Rogers Pass summit; Prime Minister Diefenbaker speaking. Old Alexandra Suspension Bridge; new Alexandra Bridge under construction, and opening ceremony (23/24-Oct-1962). Also includes aerial footage of highway construction.

Revelstoke bridge ; Sailors Bar tunnel; Deas Island tunnel

The item is a reel of unedited film footage in three sections. The first (slated 13-Nov-1958) shows the city of Revelstoke and the early phases of bridge construction. The second (slated 16-Dec-1958) shows construction work inside the Sailors Bar tunnel. The third (slated 19-Jan-1959) shows the installation of a piece of electrical equipment at the Deas Island tunnel.

The item consists of two reels of unedited footage and an additional workprint. Comprises mixed footage of construction work on the Fraser Canyon highway and at Deas Island tunnel. Also includes footage of trains in the canyon, and of passing ships and an old highway bridge on the Fraser River near the tunnel site.
