Certificates of limited partnership (indexed) stuck into an indexed scrapbook. Most partnerships are for a term of 1 year or 5 years.

The fonds consists of photographs from the late 1930s to the early 1950s, taken by Duncan Macphail, a portrait and commercial photographer. Most of the photographs were taken in the Victoria area, a smaller number in other south Vancouver Island locations and in Vancouver. They cover a vast range of subjects, including: Victoria street scenes, interiors and exteriors of buildings and business operations, industrial infrastructure, portraits, community and school events, and special events such as the visit of Princess Elizabeth to Victoria in 1951. It appears that Macphail did commercial photography for the B.C. Department of Highways (possibly in the early 1960s) but it is not known if these photographs are in the fonds. In addition to Macphail's commercial and portrait photography, the fonds consists of a small number of “art” photographic prints, matted for display in exhibitions. These cover various subjects, including totem poles. One is tagged with "Exhibited - First Annual Exhibition of Photography, Canada Pacific Exhibition. Vancouver, 1938." Macphail's original indexes are in container 000358-0037.

Series consists of Coroners' inquiries conducted in Vancouver for 1938-1965. Records may also include some Vancouver inquisitions/inquests. The series carries on from GR-1323 and is continued in GR-1504 and GR-1726.

The fonds consists of Tom Whitefoot's amateur films depicting military parades, Vancouver scenery, highway trips in British Columbia and the Northwest, and local events such as Vancouver's Golden and Diamond Jubilees (1936 and 1946), the 1939 Royal Visit, the British Empire and Commonweath Games (1954), and the city's first Grey Cup game (1955).

They are alphabetical by name of the assignor and include the following information: case number; name of assignor; name of assignee; date instrument registered with the Vancouver court; and the register reference number (volume and page). The register of book accounts assigned are found in GR-1894.

Register of book accounts assigned for courts sitting at Vancouver Court Registry. Vol. 1: 1916-1924; vol. 2: 1924-1936; vol. 3: 1936-1948; vol. 4: 1948-1960. These volumes record agreements between debtors and creditors. They include the following information: case number, name of assignors, assignor's address, assignor's occupation, name of assignee, nature of instrument used, date of instrument, date instrument registered with the Vancouver court, and the amount of purchase or mortgage moneys. GR-3146 is an index to these volumes.

The series consists of six volumes of municipal by-laws registered with the Vancouver County Court; including by-laws from the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, Point Grey, Vancouver, South Vancouver Municipality, Richmond, the District of West Vancouver and the District of Powell River (1955 only).

The series consists of records of the Vancouver City Police Force Inquiry. Records include the Commission Secretary's minutes and list of exhibits (1955-1956); a letter to the Attorney-General's office (1955); an unsigned memorandum; the interim report (1955) and the final report (1956) by Commissioner Reginald Hibbert Tupper; and 35 volumes of evidence in transcript form and transcripts of proceedings (1955-1956). Volumes 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the transcripts of evidence were never received by the BC Archives.

Suitor's Fund register.

The fonds consists of the Burritt's films, which include footage of Vancouver events and places, as well as a completed documentary film called "Stanley Park" (Coast Films, 1939).

This series contains the Lands Service records relating to the University Endowment Lands [UEL] adjacent to the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. They contain ledgers of lot sales which show purchase payment, improvement tax schedules, and interest charges. Boxes have nominal indexes. Box 5 is oversized. For related records, see GR-1068.

This series contains miscellaneous correspondence and reports. These records were originally a part of the Provincial Secretary's central registry but, for reasons unknown, became separated from the department's main files. A wide variety of subjects are addressed in these records.

Many of the records in this unit concern investigations carried out under the authority of the Departmental Inquiries Act and the Public Inquiries Act. Many relate to conditions in public institutions and activities of government employees. Many inquiries relate to hospitals and schools in the province, including Vernon Mental Hospital, Tranquille Sanatorium, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and Provincial Mental Hospital at Essondale. Other inquiries and Commissions include bribery of the Liquor Control Board, the Beban Mine disaster, Royal Commission on Dominion Provincial Relations, Inquiry into the death of John Meredith Sweeney and the state and management of the Quartermaster Stores of the Provincial Police Force.

The records also relate to child welfare programs, including the general management of the Provincial Industrial School for Boys and to the Girls' Industrial School, ca. 1930-1945. Additional documents in this collection relate to subjects such as squatters' claims at the Granville Townsite [Vancouver (1887)], to the Fraser River Flood Relief programme (1894), applications for seed, the Victoria Consolidated Hydraulic Mining Co., government perquisites, legislation, estates, and to proposed sites for the University of British Columbia (1910). "Anti-Oriental" petitions and voting returns of the 1924 beer-by-the-glass plebiscite also included.

The series consists of Vancouver County court judgement indexes from 1913 to 1952. Volumes 1 to 3 are arranged by the debtors and volumes 4 to 6 are arranged by creditors. The indexes provide plaint numbers.

The series includes letterbooks, 1897-1918; daily record books, 1898-1952; notes from daily police reports of constables, 1907-1911; and a chief constable's diary, 1911. Records are arranged chronologically by type.

Series consists of one record book from the University Station Police Court for 1928-1951. Entries provide name of prosecutor, name of defendant, nature of gaol or lockup, order or conviction, amount of fine, name of presiding magistrate or justice, and remarks.

This series consists of records created or used by the Provincial Police office in the Vancouver-Westminster Police District, also referred to as the Vancouver District of Division E. Records date from 1899-1951. They include investigations; offence books; crime reports; office log, ledger and daily office diaries; descriptions of wanted persons; bulletins; records of prisoners handled by patrol wagon; Constable registration book providing reasons for their visit to Vancouver; reports received at the Provincial Police office with notes of instructions; Orders filed chronologically by order number from the Police commissioner in Victoria; and CIB special circulars : judicial decisions and department rulings, mostly "war circulars" related to World War II impacts on Canadians.

Some records, particularly orders and circulars, may be copies provided to the Vancouver office for reference or to provide direction on changes to laws and procedures.
