Index entries for 1906-1914 are only searchable by plaintiff. Entries for 1913-1971 have separate volumes for searching by plaintiff or defendant. The 1971-1974 volume can be searched by either party. Entries from volumes 2 and 3 appear to have been copied into, and added to, in order to create volume 1.

Willingdon School for Girls : case files, registers of pupils and other material

Case files, registers of pupils, records of school grades achieved and a few personal items. The Industrial Home for Girls was established by legislation in 1912 to house girls under the age of 16 who had been convicted of a crime, or who have been shown to be vicious or incorrigible and beyond her parents' control. The school was opened in 1914, on a site which later became 800 Cassiar Street, Vancouver. In 1959 the school was moved to 3655 Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby, and became known as the Willingdon School for Girls, later abbreviated to the Willingdon School. During the early years the Home was administered by the Department of the Attorney General. It was transferred to the administration of the Department of the Provincial Secretary ca.1934. In 1937 the 1912 Act was repealed and replaced with An Act respecting the Industrial School for Girls. The Home was renamed the Industrial School for Girls. In 1946 the Industrial School for Girls was transferred from the Department of the Provincial Secretary to the administration of the Social Welfare Branch of the new Department of Health and Welfare. In 1963 the Industrial School Acts were repealed and replaced with the Training Schools Act. In 1969 the Training Schools Act was repealed. The Willingdon School was closed in 1973.

The series consists of records created by the Civil Service Classification Division between 1944 and 1973. The records include correspondence between the Civil Service Commission and departmental personnel officers, deputy ministers, etc. regarding classification and salaries, reorganization of government offices; classification reports; job descriptions and completed job questionnaires; employee groups submissions, briefs and related correspondence.

The correspondence and records are arranged alphabetically by government department and include: correspondence emanating from the chairman's office and from the office of the Chief Personnel Officer and from other commission staff to Ministers of the Crown, Deputy Ministers, and personnel officers located in the various government departments, re classification, salaries and organization; classification reports and studies undertaken by commission staff concerning categorization of employees according to occupational title, and grading within each occupational group; studies and correspondence rationalizing salary levels including comparisons between a group of employees and other groups; organization studies of government offices with related correspondence between senior officials of the commission and the department under study; employee group submissions and briefs to the commission re salaries, benefits etc., and reports, correspondence etc. relating to the settlement of employee grievances.

Footage also includes scenes from the ground at the airfield and on hillsides overlooking the test sites, practice sessions of rappelling from test structures and from helicopters, water dump tests on the ground and other related activities.

Summary Convictions for the judicial district of University Hill

Form 2B - Summary Convictions. This report of Summary Convictions for the judicial district of University Hill was completed quarterly (March 1962 - December 1967 and monthly (January 1968 - March 1973) by Magistrate M.E. Ferguson. Form 2B is a form generated by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics (authorized by the Statistics Act) in order to compile statistics on the number of cases terminating in a conviction, absolute discharge or conditional discharge from a summary convictions court. The form includes very detailed instructions and explanations for its completion and submission to the Dept. of the Attorney-General. About 150 offences are listed as well as possible dispositions: fine, probation, prison, or discharge (all categories subdivided "M" or "F"). Remuneration of one cent per summary conviction was paid to the person transmitting the report.

Not all committees were recorded since each committee had the choice of whether to accept Hansard's services. Of those that did, some met in camera without transcription services or "on the road" where recording was not feasible.

Included here are the Select Standing Committees on Agriculture, on Forestry and Fisheries, Public Accounts and Printing, Municipal Matters, Social Welfare and Education; and to Special Committees on Coastal Oil Spills and Television Broadcasting.
