Essence of life

The item consists of two film reels (parts 1 & 2) depicting the dependence of all living things on water. The physical properties of water are described, how water is a habitat for such creatures as insects, birds, beavers, frogs, and the use and abuse of water resources by man. There are also two reels of outs and trims.

The item is a reel of nature film. It is a compilation film illustrating patterns in nature through examples found on the Pacific coast. Includes varied tidal marine line and plants -- crabs, starfish, lobster, anemones, clams, etc. Discussion of patterns in form and structure, behaviour and natural association.

Secrets of the sea

The item consists of two reels of nature film showing marine and seashore life on the Pacific coast. Includes: tidal plants, crustaceans, fish; oolichan fishery and its importance; seabirds of Triangle Island and Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii); seals and seabirds on the Pribilof Islands, etc. Also footage of Victoria Inner Harbour area, houses and gardens.

Metis-Indian meeting, Duck Lake, Saskatchewan

The item is a reel of a segment of documentary film. It shows footage of speakers and participants at a "Metis-Indian conference" in a large hall with provincial insignia (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan) on wall. Speakers include Harold Cardinal and Prince Rupert MP Frank Howard. Also a few street scenes, resembling a parade.

Item consists of a documentary showing outdoor gathering of five men listening to Hugh Mann and Stu Phillips talk about their experiences flying the Supermarine Stranraer flying boat on the west coast. The flying boat is anchored near shore in the background and later seen in flight. The film is an excerpt from an episode of the weekly television show.
