The Endako story

Industrial film. Operation of the open pit molybdenum mine and concentrator at Endako in the Bulkley River Valley, from blasting out the ore to shipping the concentrate from the mill. Also shows the expansion of the mine in 1967, and the town of Fraser Lake.

"Current and projected activities in the field of pollution control and land reclamation . . . a factual presentation of the mining industry's concern for the environment and the methods it adopts to prevent pollution and to reclaim mining areas." Shot at mine sites throughout B.C. These outs include operations of Bethlehem Copper, Brenda Mines, Endako Mines, Giant Mascot, Kaiser, and Lornex, at such locations as Brenda, Granisle, Highland Valley, Ioco, LeRoi mine, Phoenix, Trail, etc.

The item consists of a reel of 16 mm film which includes the following:
Rodeo scenes; large poultry farm (at Westbank); selecting and packing eggs; men inspecting fields, farm buildings, installations, old steam-tractor, cattle in pasture; lumber mill at lake; town of Fraser Lake; Endako Mines Ltd. display, a working model, ore samples, etc.

The item consists of a reel of 16 mm film which includes the following:
A commentator describes the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act (ARDA). The 'Ksan project: a First Nations village recreated near Hazelton. Campground and park for visitors. Longhouses. Splitting shingles, roofing. Malcolm Joseph [?] carving a totem pole; he describes and shows his work. Street scenes in village. Shop. A woman describes the figures modelled for the new museum, cast from actual people. Utensils and artifacts shown will demonstrate the traditional way of life. The many uses of cedar bark. A moose skin jacket. All items crafted by local First Nations people. (00:14:10)

Prophecy of the Peace : [short version]

The item is a release print of an industrial film, made in 1964-1965. It show the continuing construction of Portage Mountain dam on the Peace River. Includes: re-enactments of the region's history (Indigenous people, Alexander Mackenzie's journeys, fur trade & homesteading); local farming; dam construction; the 5-mile conveyor built to carry earth fill to build the dam; activities in and around Prince George; the Endako Mine; etc.
