Draft resolution of the Legislative Assembly, urging the establishment of a nonsectarian public school system for the Colony of Vancouver Island; also a petition from a committee of citizens of Victoria, advocating a central location for the city's common school. These documents are undated, but likely relate to the introduction of the colony's Common School Act of 1865.

Edward Cridge, recommending the appointment of Henry Claypole as teacher (1859); and letter from the Duke of Newcastle, recommending Claypole's services (1860). Also includes correspondence from Claypole, requesting increase in salary (1861), criticizing Common Schools Act and tendering his resignation (1865). Some records were removed from GR-1372 (Colonial Correspondence), files F330 and F395.

Register of Victoria District School, 1861-1865, and school account book, 1862-1864. The Register shows the names and attendance of students at the school. "Accounts" include supply list of food staples, etc., showing prices and customs duties, along with student fee payments. As well, the volume contains addresses and a "Story of Moses" by schoolmaster W. H. Burr. Also included are newspaper cuttings re: the early history of Victoria schools and an annotated list of pupils attending the Victoria District School, ca. 1862. The list was prepared for the Provincial Archivist, John Forsyth, by Edgar Fawcett in April 1922.
Register of Attendance, Nanaimo "Colonial" School, 1862-1866. The Register, showing the names of pupils attending the second public school in British Columbia, was maintained by Cornelius Bryant, schoolmaster from 1856-1870. Also included, on a loose sheet, is a detailed schedule showing time devoted to various subjects on a typical school day.
Daily journal from 1899-1904 of an unidentified policeman stationed in Cranbrook, including information on arrests made. According to Public Accounts, Constable F.R. Morris was stationed at Cranbrook during this time period. The inside cover of the book (not microfilmed) states "property of Mrs. Doris Evans, Cranbrook BC"

Information includes the names of the occupier and the witnesses, the number of the pre-emption claim, legal description and geographical location of the land, and the dates of the pre-emption claim and the completion of Improvements. An alphabetical index is included in this volume.

Contents include submissions by 11 people on a wide range of subjects. There are 3 manuscripts and 18 transcripts, mostly reminiscences of pioneers, and people recording family history information.

Series consists of Chilliwack County Court bench books for civil and criminal cases between 1912-1954. Cases were heard before Judges Howay, Ruggles, Ellis, Swanson, Sullivan, and Grimmett. Volume 1 includes lists of applications for naturalization. Volume 3 also includes notes by Judge Howay regarding his final day on the bench at Chilliwack in 1937. Only volume 4 is indexed.
The series includes probate files from Greenwood Supreme Court and County Court from 1897 to 1949. There is a file list for individual probate files covering 1927-1949. Various filing methods were used by the creator from 1897-1926. These earlier files were grouped together in Shannon files by the creator. Some files are arranged alphabetically and the rest by file number. This order has been maintained. Earlier files are divided into groups of probate files, intestate probate files, and probate files with will annexed. Some files may contain Supreme Court and County Court files mixed together.
The series also includes grants of letters probate and grants of letters of administration from 1899-1949 from the Supreme Court and County Court, including letters for intestate files and letters of administration from the Official Administrator. Some letters are labelled with file numbers that correspond to a probate file.
The series consists of records acquired and created by Colin Clarence Campbell, Clerk in the British Columbia Provincial Police Force, between 1941 and ca. 1950. There are copies of general orders, 1941-1947; nominal rolls, 1941-1948; salary lists, 1947-1949, and seniority lists, 1941-1948. In addition there are two police publications: regulations from 1945 and consolidated general orders from 1947, some lists of officers working in Oakalla Prison, 1944-1948, a list of officers and their dependents, 1948 and a list from about 1950 of the city and district municipalities policed by the R.C.M.P.
The series consists of a selected file of British Columbia Resources Investment Corporation (BCRIC) share applications from 1979. The company was incorporated on February 22, 1978 and purchased interests in various resource development companies. Shares were offered to the public by sale in order to raise investment funds for resource development in B.C. and B.C. residents were each offered 5 free shares.
The selected file covers the Fruitvale area, file code 07940-001. The applications are arranged in batches with a batch transmittal cover sheet and contain the applications for 5 free shares per person. Information on the application includes the name of the person, address, personal id numbers and confirmation of 5 shares. Children are listed on the form with their mother or guardian. Once confirmed, applicants would be given share certificates.
The series also includes copies of two pamphlets created to explain BCRIC company and share offerings to the public, copies of the BCRIC prospectus, copies of the procedures manual for share distribution circulated by the Ministry of Finance and copies of blank application forms.

The series consists of records created by the Dept. of Education between 1953 and 1970. There are two files of collected statistical reports on B.C. schools, 1953-1964 and 1965-1970. The statistics gathered cover the following subjects: adult education, certification of teachers, distribution of pupils, electives, examiners, occupational classes, retention rates, school population, special classes, supervisory personnel and teacher entitlements. The reports are arranged alphabetically and were probably originally held in binders.
In addition, there is a file of compiled inspections of schools offering grade 8 senior matriculation, 1962-1964. The reports contain details of library and lab facilities and assessments of the teaching staff.
