The series consists of an assortment of over 600 black and white photos and negatives, largely attributed to Ernest Crocker. Many of these are of familiar Crocker themes, such as World War One, houses and buildings in Victoria, portraits of families and individuals, as well as scenic photos, taken largely on Vancouver Island, but also British Columbia as well as overseas. In addition, there is some ephemera in the form of postcards, advertising brochures, correspondence to Ernest Crocker, sales receipts with regards his many clients who purchased his photos, as well as his price lists. Within the series is the embossed metal stamp for 'Trio'.

Other material within the series consists of items that was apparently collected by Crocker during his lifetime. This includes correspondence and postcards, photos by other photographers, and a piece of artwork by John P. Peters.

Given the large volume of other Crocker material in this fonds, it is possible that there are duplicates of some of his photos (notably those relating to WW1), within this series. There is also material that is unique, however, such as the 'Trio' stamp, his correspondence, and order slips.

The dates of the series are from 1887 to around the end of World War 2 in 1945.

This series consists of land registers for various areas on Vancouver Island and some Gulf Islands. Records cover the following Land Districts: Bright, Cedar, Cranberry, Mountain, Nanoose, Nanaimo, Wellington, Comox, Douglas, Clayoquat, Nootka, Oyster and Chemainus. Records cover the following Islands: Valdes Island, Thetis Island, Kuper [Penelakut] Island, Mayne Island, Prevost Island and Gabriola Island. Earliest entries began in 1855 and all volumes were superseded by 1942 (i.e. no further entries were made after 1942).

The registers list the land in numerical order, usually by Range and Section, but occasionally by lot. There can be up to three methods of land description within one Land District. Information may include the name of purchaser, dates and number of certificate issued (including Crown Grants), dates and amounts of payments, and reference numbers to correspondence files and field books. The volume contains an index to districts by page number, and an alphabetical index to grantees.

This series consists of records related to the construction and maintenance of the Leech River ditch, flume and dam, also known as the Leach ditch from 1866-1867. The majority of the records are correspondence to and from BW Pearse, Acting Surveyor General for the Colony of Vancouver Island. Other records include contracts, reports, and financial records.

The series consists of copies of British Columbia baptism, marriage and death registers created by churches that conducted the ceremonies. Currently only records (baptisms 1849-1899; marriages 1864-1903) of St. Andrews Cathedral, Victoria , are available.

Churches were required to submit their baptismal registers to the Vital Statistics Division in the 1940s so the registers could be microfilmed. Vital Statistics subsequently created an alphabetical index to the microfilmed registers, and a database was created from the index volumes with supplementary information from the microfilmed registers added to the entries. This information is searchable via the BC Archives Genealogy database. The microfilm copies of the original registers may include some additional information or context that was not included in the database.

Each bound volume was created by one church. Each entry corresponds with one ceremony, but may involve multiple individuals. The entries within each volume are ordered chronologically and may be numbered. Every volume varies in the type and presentation of information included and may not be consistent throughout one volume. All entries include the date of the ceremony, name of individual(s) involved in the ceremony, and the name of the priest who conducted the ceremony.

Baptism register entries may also include name of child, date of birth, place of birth, sex of child, name and surname of father, name and maiden name of mother, residence of parents, profession of parents, religion of parents, name and surname of grandparents, religion of grandparents, and name and surname of godparents.

Marriage register entries may also include name and surname of groom, name and maiden name of bride, age of bride, age of groom, name and surname of their parents, name and surname of witnesses present, religion of named individuals, place of birth, and signatures of parties involved.

Death register entries may also include: death dates, cause of death, age at death, location of internment and information about the funeral ceremony.

Indigenous people are included in the registers (as Indians or Sauvages). Some Indigenous names are included. Many baptisms of Indigenous people were in groups and may only consist of a list of the Christian names the priest gave to the baptized individuals. Tribal or community affiliations may be included.

Some entries include the geographical location that the ceremony took place. This location may vary from the location of the church, as some priests travelled quite widely to conduct ceremonies.

This series consists of of a lot register for the following Vancouver Island land districts: Chemainus, Folio 1-20, Comiaken, Folio 2140, Helmcken, Folio 41-60, Dunsmuir, Folio 60, Bright, Folio 89, Malahat, Folio 130, Somenos, Folio 150, and Cowichan Lake, Folio 180. Entries in the register are dated 1898-1942.

The registers list lots within the land districts by lot numbers, recording the alienation of land from the Crown (by purchase, pre-emption, lease, etc.). The collection consists of material created and collected by Dr. John Bindernagel as part of his research into the Sasquatch. A large part of the material is not original, but was collected by or given to him throughout the course of his career. The collection consists predominantly of four separate components. Some of the plaster casts that are unidentified in the photos are the same casts that have been donated. Although it is possible to speculate that the photographs were taken by Bindernagel, this is not confirmed.

The textual material contains eyewitness drawings and historical accounts of the Sasquatch as well as published material by John Green.

There are a many number of photographs, almost all of which have no identifying information provided on them. Many of the photos are of footprints and plaster casts which were taken by Bindernagel in British Columbia; but others have unknown provenance. There are some oversize laminated prints which are duplicates of those of footprints taken by Bindernagel on Vancouver Island. Additionally, there are some laminated prints of stills from the Patterson-Gimlin film of 1967.

The audiovisual material includes radio and television shows where Bindernagel was interviewed. There are also recordings made by Bindernagel that consist of unidentified noises on tape, some presentations he gave, as well as an interview with a couple recounting a possible Sasquatch encounter in British Columbia. Other audiovisual material includes other radio interviews, a copy of the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film, and material created by other organizations. This material has not yet been digitized and therefore access is restricted until then.

Finally, there are 21 plaster casts of footprints. Tracks 1-6 were created by Bindernagel on Vancouver Island in 1988 and 1993; tracks 7-11 were not created by Bindernagel, but include information such as date, location and name of creator; tracks 12-21 are plaster casts that have no known provenance; however, some of these may be copies of those held by Idaho State University.

The collection consists of material created and collected by Dr. John Bindernagel as part of his research into the Sasquatch. A large part of the material is not original, but was collected by or given to him throughout the course of his career.

Clarence Hronek was an active caver and member of several speleological societies. His records are comprised of correspondence re caving; reports, correspondence, pamphlets, etc. relating to specific caves, sites and caving expeditions on Vancouver Island and the mainland. Unit also includes maps and some BC Speleological Society (name changed in 1968 to Canadian Speleological Society) material: copy of certificate of incorporation (1967), constitution, by-laws, newsletters, etc.

Diaries. From 1896-1900, Henry was in the Royal Marine Artillery on board H.M.S. Victorious on the China Station; he emigrated to B.C. in 1911, and from November 1913 to February 1914 worked as a carpenter at South Wellington mine; in May 1914 he pre-empted Lot 8, Sayward district; he served in the army from 1915-1917, partly in England; in April 1920 the family returned to Sayward. A typescript of the diaries for 1897-1900 is filmed after the 1935-1936 diary, and contains photographs, programmes, etc. Photos transferred to Visual Records.
