The series consists of records of the Royal Commission Appointed to Inquire into Health and Accident Insurance Associations Operating in the Province of British Columbia, 1944-1947. The records consist of the Provincial Secretary file 145-19 which contains correspondence, vouchers, copy of Letters Patent appointing the Commissioner; transcripts of evidence presented at the proceedings; and briefs and exhibits. Also included is the report in which the Commissioner recommended that the societies should be compelled to become licensed under the Insurance Act because they operate for the sole purpose of insuring members and carrying on an insurance business.
