Lytton Gold Commissioner's records

Series contains the records of the Assistant Gold Commissioner, Lytton, B.C. relating to pre-emptions. Letters inward to Henry Maynard Ball, April 12, 1860 to December 3, 1860, and letters inward to John Boyd, 1870-1871. Includes correspondence, notices, and other papers on pre-emptions at Nicola Lake, Boston Bar, Lytton, Cache Creek, Kamloops and in the vicinity of various Indian Reserves. Also an account of moneys received by the Collector of General Revenue, Similkameen, 1861.

Yale Government Agent records

The series consists of records created by the Government Agent in Yale between 1858 and 1914. The records include correspondence inward and outward; records of placer and mineral claims, water records, land records and financial records.

The series includes one file transferred from container 913433-0222 that relates to the Ashton v. Agassiz case. This correspondence can be found in the letterbook in GR-1780.

Robert M. Taylor interview

The item is an audio recording of an interview with Robert Taylor. He spent most of his life in Merritt, and in 1976 he compiled a history of the Nicola United Church ("Old Murray Church") for its 100th anniversary. He discusses at length the history of Merritt as a developing town, as well as the important people involved. Also included is his personal history as a teacher and lay minister in the Nicola Valley.

The Coquihalla Highway : 20 months through the mountains

The item is a video copy of an industrial film showing a historical account of the construction of the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. The film highlights general grade and bridge construction, as well as the erection of the reinforced retaining walls and the Dry Gulch Bridge. Also explored are the planning procedures, the management process, offsite component manufacture, and the environmental mitigation measures.
