Liquor Control Board correspondence and licence files

The series consists of selected Liquor Control Board (LCB) correspondence files, club licence files, and beer licence files created between 1925 and 1954.

The correspondence files are arranged by LCB file number and include records relating to the establishment of liquor stores, imports, prices, protests and prosecutions. The files also include Chairman W.F. Kennedy's correspondence between 1932 and 1951, correspondence with other government departments and miscellaneous correspondence.

The Club licence files contain the club constitution, lists of members, description of premises, etc. Beer parlor licence files may contain blueprints, inspection reports, descriptions of premises, and photographs. Both sub-series contain physical descriptions and floor plans and are arranged by LCB file number.

The series consists of records created by the British Columbia Provincial Police between 1899 and 1927 relating to the enforcement of the Licences Act, 1888, the Liquor Licence Act, 1910, and the Government Liquor Act, 1921.

The records include correspondence of the Superintendent; circulars; newspaper clippings; hotel licence application and renewal files; indexes and list and files relating to prosecutions and convictions.

The series consists of beer license files relating to hotel beer parlors in British Columbia, created between 1941 and 1954. Files contain correspondence, blue-prints, annual and follow-up inspectors' reports, police reports and other documents.

While the original photographs were removed from the files and accessioned by the visual records unit as 198910-001; photocopies have been retained in the files.

Record book and supporting documents for Licensing Court for Yale District held at Osoyoos, 1894-1898. These records document applications and decisions for liquor licenses. The volume includes three loose pages covering licenses and petitions from 1897 to 1899.

Land and mining record book

This series consists of a ledger and general record book, 1859-1871. The creator of the volume is not clear, but was likely the Government Agent who worked in or around Lytton. The volume was used for several purposes overtime. It includes the following types of information: list of pre-emptions for Lytton City; mining licences, free miner's certificates, liquor licences, trading licences, garden plots and ground rentals from the Lytton area (Fraser Canyon to Kamloops); records of miners and storekeepers occupying Crown land as garden plots and residences throughout the Fraser Canyon area; copies of bridge toll agreements and ferry operation contracts for places on the Fraser River, Thompson River, Nicola River, Savonna's ferry, Anderson River and Bridge River.
